Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very pretty beach and fantastic to see. But not a great place for swimming- the current is very rough with a strong undertow and and in some parts there's rocks that the current will toss at you. Our taxi driver told us that there's black sand along the east and west coasts, so next time I think we will try Flamingo Bay.

Best kept secret in Grenada. There is also a cave that is located in the southern end of the beach!!

This is extremely far from the main tourist areas. When I was there, there was nobody else. While it is cool to see the black sand, there is not much else to do and the water isn’t very nice when compared to other beaches. To get there by bus: take the 5 and stop at the entrance to Concord Falls, the path is on the other side. Should cost around $3.50 EC, and the walk from there should be around 25-30 mins, just keep going down. Good beach if you want alone time and to see the black sand.

This is the only black sand beach on Grenada, but it is difficult to get to and pretty small once you've hiked about a 1/4 mile off the main road. It is not for the faint of heart. First of all, it is pretty hard to find. There is a little road going off the main road opposite the sign for Concord Falls - it doesn't look like it goes anywhere. When we stopped to figure this out, the locals immediately pounced on us and offered to guide us to the beach. We reluctantly agreed. The longer we hiked and the further off the road, the more anxious I became, but our "guide" did get us to the beach. Once there the sand is indeed black, but as we were the only people there (with no cell service I might add), it was difficult to be comfortable. We were concerned about finding our way back through the jungle, but our unofficial guide said he would hang around and wait for us. Needless to say, we didn't stay for long and I'm happy to report he guided us back to our car without incident.

We had the bus drop us off in the vicinity and asked around to find the road/path that took us to Black Bay beach. After about 30 minutes of walking through banana plantations and sugar mill ruins, which were interesting to see, we arrived at Black Bay beach. There was a bit of a swampy area to cross immediately before the beach. Except for one fisherman, it was deserted. There are no facilities here, so bring water, and a snack if you plan on staying for a while. The sun was setting so we didn't have time to check out the cave nearby - next time!

Can easily be combined into a visit to Concord/Au Coin Falls. Follow the track down to the beach from the bus stop for around 20 minutes. Ask locals if unsure. You then reach a metal bridge with an option to either cross to the other side of the river or continue on the current side. The path to the beach is easier if you do not cross the bridge - we assume the other side is where other reviewers encountered the mangroves.
The beach is beautiful and good for photos, but eerily quiet with abandoned buildings on the route. We didn't find the cave but it was high tide.

From the western main road, heading north you will come to Concord.
When you see a sign to turn right to get to Concord Falls, instead turn LEFT -the road that leads towards the sea. Drive as far as you can then walk through cocoa and fig trees, past old estate ruins, following the river to the sea. You will hear the waves before you can see the beach so there is no way to get lost. The beach was empty and wild and really exotic. Some people love white sand beaches but I think black ones are more unusual and seem primordial. Would have given it a 5 out of 5, if not for a sad and thirsty donkey we met along the path. Nothing should have to suffer in Paradise.

Black Bay Beach is in a pretty remote location and there's no parking. We just followed the road until we could go no farther, then parked as best we could at the side. From there, the walk is an easy, level trek through a gorgeous forest and the ruins of an old sugar mill. The beach itself is isolated and the water quality (probably because of recent storms) was not great for swimming, but it was quiet, beautiful, and worth the walk.
Note: Other posters talk about the cave with Amerindian carvings, but we could not find it.

At first we were going to take our rental car. We decided to walk.
Nearby us there was a river. We enjoyed the the bananas nearby us.
Once at the beach, we examined the sand. It was black. I had heard that volcanoes can make sand black. Now, this was true.
There were boats here as well.
However, everyone either enjoyed the black sand or swim.
We had a great time.
Worthwhile to see!

Well, if you haven't seen a beach with black sand, then by all means go to Black Bay Beach. To get to the beach you need to drive north from St George's direction Gouyave. When you get to the town of Concord, look for a sign on the right side of the road that indicates "Concord Falls". The trek to the beach is immediately opposite this. You can park your vehicle on the road, then take the paved road down from the main street. This paved road is in pretty good condition, but it is a steep walk down. Along the way you will pass by some very interesting plantations of bananas and other tropical plants. The path is well trodden although we crossed a steel bridge and went to the wrong side of a little river, and had to back track. When we finally got to the beach, the tide was coming in and the beach was very small. Then it started to pour, and I mean downpour. Still the beach was lovely. We took shelter in an old destroyed structure, and then lost hope and trekked up the hill to our car. On the way up we walked along the little river and past bamboo thickets. It was truly lovely.
