Our boat ride with lunch was part of a day long excursion from Punta Cana. The boat ride was relaxing with lovely scenery along the way. The lunch was very good; started with a conch salad and yuca croquette followed by grilled shrimp, rice, yuca with carrots, bell pepper and onion. There is an option of chicken for those who... The Rio Chavon is fairly famous for its dramatic scenery, so much so that quite a few blockbuster films were filmed here. It connects into the sea near La Romana so it is a great add on to a trip to Catalina or Saona island

This was a bit of a long day, but it was definitely worth it if you like local culture and scenery. The boat ride was flawless and very calm and got to meet and talk with many of the other patrons. The river was stunning with great scenery and stories from the guide. The lunch wasn't spectacular, but then again, you... More

Took the excursion to ALso De Chavon and Catalina ISland which included a paddle boat ride along the river. Paid 118 per person and was a very long day. Water was murky, very windy day, lots of seasick people.. ugh... maybe a nicer day would have been better. We joined THE HAPPY TRAVELLERS BLOG and saw lots of pictures and... More

Evening upriver cruise. River empties into sea at marina. Cruise left from this area. Winding course with high banks. Few birds seen. Rate high because we were on cruise boat with friends, bar, and food. Would be a good day time kayak trip.

We booked with Seavis Tours – We did the Rio Chavon Jungle tour. The transport took us to the drop off point where we got on a covered barge with tables and chairs. We headed up this slow and lazy river with lots of narration, native fruits, and drinks. They taught us to dance along the way, and the scenery... More

If you miss this, it's only big deal. It's very green, not a lot of wildlife and bit dull. If you can do it cheaply or have time to kill then do it

we loved this river although music could be not so loud (it was really way too loud) and it would be a good idea to clean a bit. Trees are great and one can see some exotic birds.

Very cool, still untouched and used in many movies ( Rambo, Anaconda, etc) Not too much of the traffic so you can have a peaceful time.
