Visited the Playa Dorado mall in Puerto Plata at the beginning of May. It is pretty touristy, a bit of hustling by the shop owners but not too aggressive. Most of the stuff is typical but still found some good souvenirs and some good rum....More

Reasonable place to shop, for tourist stuff including larimar (although the jewellry shop downstairs is probably one of the best shops there). There are cash points here and a bank. Good for that at least if you are in a hotel in Playa Dorada.

It is worth visiting the mall on a cloudy day. Pretty much all of the stores carry the same souvenirs, and you can bargain more with the stores on the 2nd level. The prices will be higher than what is offered on the beach, but...More

The Playa Dorada Mall is located within the gated Playa Dorada area, which itself contains around a half dozen all-inclusive resorts, some condos, and a golf course. This should already tell you roughly what you can expect: this is a big tourist trap. To be...More

We happened upon this small mall nestled in a safe portion of playa dorada near the Bluebay Villas Doradas, the Atmosphere, Sunescape and the others in Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata. We saw that there were some empty shops which is understandable since the rents are...More

Not as deserted as other reviews made it seem. Very typical of Dominican souvenir shops. About a dozen shops, few bars and 2 restaurants. Visited Senor Rock (great drinks, good prices, good service) they streamed the All Star Skills Competition. Wasn't very busy - but...More

And really it is. If you walk into one shop then you've seen what every other shop is selling. Prices are definitely cheaper than the beach, but this place is deserted. I don't understand how such a spot can exist with hardly anyone around.

First impression was of a lot of empty stores. Typical stores full of souvenirs. Lots of pushy sales people.
