Our family is not really into history and this fort seemed very small compared to some of the other forts. We were on a time crunch so we skipped the tour. It was still nice to see and take pictures on the site, along the...More

We really enjoyed seeing this piece of history. They give you headsets to listen to the facts as you walk around. Great day.

We spent some time touring the fort and the surrounding areas while visiting Puerto Plata. The architecture is incredible and the views are as well!

Beware of vendors wanting to sell you anything from pictures with a mule, to necklaces....etc. If you say no, they call you cheap. Unfortunately, it's everywhere you go. No children begging, just adults. Not many of the people can speak english.

There is a small fee (a few dollars). Some parking...kids might like it. Doesn't take long to see it (half hour to an hour, tops). Avoid hottest part of the day if possible. Bring water.
