Only thing keeping this from a DR 5 star is the pushy selling at the end. Sorry no pictures but a good display of Amber and huge jewelry store on the way out.

This museum has a good collection of the amber pieces and the tour guide explained many interesting facts about amber mining and the process of jewelry making.

The museum displays quite a few interesting and precious pieces of Amber: diverse in colors; some are really unique, with insects inside. Museum shop is nothing special, though.

The "museum" is actually 3 rooms of rocks exhibits in a building which was once nice ... but now it looks like will benefit from renovation ... especially the bathrooms!

Getting from our cruise ship to the museum we went through bad neighborhoods in our small cab. It is in the middle of small streets in the City. Big buses were there with tourists also. I visited July 2015 and all the Amer is so beautiful. I fell in love with the chess board. Downstairs you can make a cigar for free. They also give you samples of Mamajuana, an alcoholic drink for health benefits.

We went to this place with a tour. We had a great guide who gave us some good info on the amber and other stones used. The prices are great and I bought a ring and a bead for my Pandora bracelet. I will return to this place whenever we get back!
