    Not my sort of thing.
I was rather disappointed in the tour. Once inside after waiting in the sun for 20 minutes, we were taken into a hallway, viewed three barrels, then watched a move for 7 minutes while standing. After the move they took us to another room for a tasting. We decided to just skip it and get back to our tour guides van before the large crowd came out.

    Nice rum factory tour!
1/21/24: My wife booked this tour for me, since I like rum. I found the tour to be very educational and entertaining. The video was pretty good, and the hostess was engaging. I enjoyed visiting the store before and after the tour. The rum sampling and displays areas were pretty cool. I ended up buying four bottles of rum, and was happy that I was able to sample three of them.

    Not up to the hype
Stop was part of a downtown tour. Very brief walk through a hot hallway into a small theater for a movie on their history. After that, you're taken to a tasting room. Able to sample about six or seven types of rum. Ends with about 20 minutes shopping in their store which sells, you guessed it, rum. Nothing to write home about. More of a time filler for the tour.

Not much of a tour unless you drink. Go through dark rooms with aging barrels, some few pictures of crops and then offered small samples of different rums. I don't drink, so, not of much use to me. It was just part of the City tour, which explains my attendance. Surrounding area was ok, but, kind of hokey regarding small scale replica of "Nina" ship, big chairs, and vendor cycle. See pics.

They took us the bus, supposedly to a rum cellar, but we found a kind of set that simulated a winery, they gave us a video of a few minutes (Macorix propaganda) and then gave us to try three shots of rum in a plastic cup. It was also a day with a lot of people. Activity too "touristy" (but it is a personal opinion, there are tastes for everything)

We were in Puerto Plata on March 20 while on a cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean Escape. Our excursion of the city highlights and culture included a visit to the Macorix rum factory. Besides myself our party consisted of my wife, son, daughter and son in law. We all found the tour very interesting and enjoyable. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. All the employees we interacted with in the tasting room were also very friendly and helpful. It was well worth the time to experience this rum factory and learn about a rum product that I had not even heard of before this visit. Macorix rum is smooth and pleasing to the palate. All of us really enjoyed it.

The tour is little more than a video and a tasting. That would be ok if the rum was better. There are many excellent rum brands on the island, but unfortunately this is not one of them. They would be fine to mix, I expect but are a little rough to drink straight. You get 7 different varieties to taste including, coconut, coconut water, spiced, and pineapple. Its been around a long time, so someone likes it, but if you like good rum, this may just be a bit less than expected. However, any day drinking rum is not a bad day.

What a beautiful property, take the tour of the distillery very informative, nice tastings of rums. The gift shop is very clean, no hard sell. We were on a city tour which included a stop here. We purchased Gran Reserva, Rebel ( spiced) Macorix Ice ( appletini) these wine coolers are very tasty. We will be on another cruise soon and will return to purchase more. I took more photos but could not upload. I will take more upon my return. 2 thumbs up

Was on a cruise, Carnival Horizon. Decided to do the city tour, This was on the tour. I enjoy the tour. It's a walk through. Then a short movie that gives you more of the history, They do a tasting but I don't drink. Even through the tasting the tour guide would tell you about that flavored rum. Afterwards you could go into the story,

The tour was nice, the place is really well prepared and charming, we had an almost VIP tour (the two of us and a guide) and then there is tasting in a fancy-styled bars. As opposed to Brugal - the rum is rather poor. But it is still a place worth visiting.

Was on a shore excursion tour and this was one of the stops. Its a pleasant stop in a very hot city. The tour is mostly to get you to the rum tasting, so if this is what you mostly interested in you will enjoy the stop. The guide is very informative and there was an informational video that was good to see. I don't drink alcohol, but my companions did, so it was a good visit for them.

Don't expect much in the way of an actual tour of facility but there is an interesting video and a pretty nice tasting at the end of it. Basically, your entrance fee is the cost of the tasting. But it was fun and interesting
