Excellent. We've been to the DR many times, but this was a first to Amber Cove and it definitely has a little something for everyone. Shops for those that want retail, places to eat for the foodies, etc. Water park area for those wanting poolside have great accommodations pool chairs, umbrellas, lazy river pool, poolside bar, bar and restaurant service from your lounge. It was well worth going especially since you only need to pay for what you want. No cover charges etc.

We went to Amber Cove on a cruise. Very nice area. The locals are friendly and Ocean World is a must, especially if you have children! The staff at Ocean World were amazing and helpful with my son who is in a wheelchair. I highly recommend Amber Cove, with the nice locals, beaches, shops and Ocean World.

One of four stops during our 8 day Carnival Cruise. The waterpark and pools at Amber Cove make for a relaxing day for all ages. We rented two umbrellas and got two waterslide passes for our kids. (About $70) The lazy river and pools are clean and well kept. Us adults loved the swim up bar and attentive service by all staff. Restaurants on site from hotdogs to seafood. A little something for everyone. They have water sports activities for extra $$ or rent a private poolside cabana or one over the water. The shopping at Amber Cove offers something for everyone from souvenirs to diamonds and rum. The property is spotless, no beggars and we felt perfectly safe the entire time we were there. Overall a big thumbs up and a great way to spend the day!

Lots to do at Amber Cove. We choose a day at the Senator. All inclusive $68 per person, included towels, beach chairs. Unlimited drinks and food. Lots of pools to use, beach is rocky so use water shoes, great for snorkeling. Take a taxi, don't walk and get lost..I would not recommend the free beach..it was very dirty Lots of trash. Luckily a security guard took us to the Senator!! Beautiful resort.

This is a Carnival Corporation owned gated area. Only Carnival, Princess, and Holland America ships dock here. There can be up to 2 ships at a time. The area that is cruise owned is right there with the pool area and the shops. Beyond the gates is the rest of the Dominican and taxi’s to Puerto Plata which would be the main city there. If you choose to stay in the cruise ship area, to the left is the shopping area. There are many different shops like clothes, chocolate, jewlery, cigars, etc. To the right is the pool area. The pool is large with a lazy river type concept but without the current. The only shade is really under the bridges and those areas get taken quickly. The pool is nice and refreshing. They also play music and do some pool party vibes. Get there early if you can to get prime lounge chair seating in the shade and get into a still empty pool. Once both cruise ships have more people getting off, most of the loungers get taken (and there are a lot) and the pool becomes people soup. There is also a splash pad area for the kiddos. There is a swim up bar which is cool but has outrageous prices. They also serve food at the restaurant with outrageous prices also. There is a skyview bar that you can walk up to for some good views and drinks as well. There are two waterslides that cost $5 for unlimited rides all day. The lines were long. There is also a zipline that literally goes over the pool for $45/person or something and lasts like 30 seconds. Also you could rent umbrellas for your pool chairs somewhere in the neighborhood of $30. It was cool to walk around and see the forested beauty of the domincan (from what you can see there) and it was cool to check out the shops. But I think next time if you aren’t taking an excursion then you are better off just staying on the ship and having a relaxing empty pool day on the ship.

If on a cruise leave the port and search out an excursion. Much cheaper than those offered thru the cruise line. We found Amber Cove to be beautiful and clean. We left the Cove for a tour to Puerta Plata. So enjoyed the tour and our tour guide Pablo. Good time
