The cathedral off the Parque Colon is a must-do. It is not the most spectacular of cathedrals but it is impressive. It is rather restrained for a Catholic place of worship and is rather severely plain but the chapels are filled with detail.

When you visit Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 you need to go to colonial city and visit the first cathedral built by the Spaniards during the conquest of the America’s land. Great history and buildings. A must visit.

Inside was quite beautiful although the exterior did not offer much. The audio system worked well and there was good information in English about the history and various aspects of the church.

Yes this the first Catholic Church in all America, founded in 1512. It's very impressive and interesting, should be in better condition but our government dont take care of our most valuable and historical resources.
