It is a nice building with history written in the walls on the side. You can look at it from your car.

The Columbus Lighthouse is well seen from Zona Colonial or Malecon (Montesinos beach). The area where it is (East Santo Domingo) doesnt look very safe, so consider visiting by walking from the center. Interesting for architecture lovers, I would say.

A must see in Santo Domingo. The monument is unique and massive. We were only able to see the outside of the monument. It is claimed that Christopher Columbus' remains are inside.

The monument is quite imposing on the outside. Did not have the time to go inside. The surrounding was unkempt and had an appearance of being neglected.
