Worth the detour!

Dale and his friends have made a good job of joining the sea to the volcanic hot water from below at this bar . The staff are very pleasant and it's a great views of the bay...

Undersea volcanic gasses seep through the ocean floor producing the most amazing bubbles that percolate up to the surface; it's like swimming through a sea of champagne bubbles, hence the name. You can rent your gear here at a very reasonable price, I think $20USD and I would add a guide. Although not necessary, for an extra $5; I just... More

No safety briefing. Didn't even check that we could swim. Had to be saved and pulled from the water. Nightmare.

We had a rather slow day chasing and swimming with the Sperm whales so stopped here on our way back to the marina/hotel. The geothermal activity is very close to the surface here so you get bubbles. Our guide told us that as a young man they would catch fish and dig holes in the beach. The heat would cook... More

Good snorkeling spot with warm water and lots of volcanic activity to watch. Great wreck a little farther out.

Our dive boat anchored about 100 yards from the beach. Toward the end of our dive we visited the champagne springs at about 10 feet depth. You dive amidst the rising bubbles, it really does feel as if you are diving in champagne. There is also an underwater hot spring which is really neat.

Hire or borrow mask to see the bubbles and sea, be prepared to swim out to see lots of them-flippers help, access to sea tricky with rocks but that makes it safe, bubbles are a lot of fun, lots of colouful fish and really clear water. Staff at top of road who hire gear out not very helpful- too busy... More

The first thing you need to know is there is NO beach. You enter the water from a rubber mat placed on the Rocky shore. Be sure to visit Champagne Beach when in Dominica. If you are going to Dominica you need to snorkel at Champagne Reef.

It's a shame to pay a access to the Sea because the see is to everybody. And nothing justifies an entrance fee

After a lot of snorkeling over reefs and a variety of sea life this place introduced something new to the experience. Now not only are you seeing what you normally see but you also have these delightful bubbles to swim through, feel the warmth of, and when you touch the bigs ones they burst into tons of little bubbles. The... More
