Not.much to see at fort Amsterdam. Nowadays it's an government building which means you cannot go inside. The outer wall is nice and the courtyard too. At some moments the chapel is open to visitors. The fort is situated right at the pontjes brug.

While visiting Willemstad we walked arround a lot and slept in two different hotels, before and after our cruise. We did visit the fort, but only from the outside this time.

Such old building seem perfectly preserved. Very pretty, quiet spot to cool down and find some shade. Can't help but wonder what pirates might have been captured at this fort, but not much information to read. Currently houses government offices.

I walked into the fort as part of my walking tour of Punda. It looked interesting from the outside and the buildings were worth a photo. But there was nothing interesting or exciting. My viewpoint may have been different if I had a guide who...More

This is a genuinely interesting interlinked set of building making up Fort Amsterdam all of which seem to be in immaculate condition given their age ie build started circa early 17th century. Real piece of history and free to enter. My particular favourite was the...More
