A step back to colonial Cuba

Well worth a visit and it could take up to half a hour to view this house. But probably not woth taking a guide - very expensive.

It's amazing that this house has survived almost 500 years. The staff have done great work finding furniture that is appropriate to the different eras over that time, and their presentation explaining the history of the house was excellent.

A must see. The house is very well kept and full of interest. At certain times there is live music. You get a real feel of the early spanish period in cuba.

Velasquez was a key figure in Cuba's colonial history and his house is one of the most important in Cuba for it's architecture and understanding this period of a then new nation.

Old mansion with lots of artifacts and furniture depicting how the aristocrat lived in Cuba in the early days. Interesting place to visit and spend a couple of hours. Guide very knowledgeable about the history. Surprised at how well they lived.

Lovely to walk around the building and see all the old architecture and furnishings - probably would have been worth taking the guide that was offered for a few more insights.

As befits the oldest house in Cuba and that of the island's first governor, the emphasis here in more on that earlier period. The most intriguing part is the gold foundry. The rooms are furnished in a wide range of styles which have graced the house over the centuries.

This museum is full of antique furniture and furnishings, as well as some equipment from the copper industry. It is a nice place to escape the heat of the day as well!
