We went late every night to this friendly music club we were staying in Trinidad. Very simple, the music was always excellent and the dancing fabulous. We met some great people who welcomed us like long lost friends. Of special note was Felix Cintra, a traditional folk singer, who sang and played guitar at the club most nights. An amazing... More

We spent three weeks in Cuba, and visiting the Casa de La Trova in Santiago de Cuba was the worst experience we had. Made only to elicit money from naive tourists, which in the end is nothing wrong. What had happened to us was this! When we came the program had already been completed. Despite the promise that we would... More

A little touristy but also a good mix of cubans - good music and lots of dancing and fun. Relaxed informal atmosphere. A good place to sit and watch in the day and dance at night.

de la Trova is a popular spot for both tourist and locals in Santiago. There are two venues. A small, street level room to sit and listen to local musicians (a smaller version of Preservation Hall in New Orleans) - buy a drink - sit and listen and give the musicians a CUC when them come around. You enter next... More

We were in Santiago de Cuba on a day trip so didn't really have much time at all to enjoy this wonderful bar. But fortunately able to drop in for 30 minutes to see a wonderful little band play (and elderly lady with a corker of a voice and two musicians playing guitars and 'percussion'. Little seats are set up... More

I can imagine this once was a great place to be in the evenings. When we arrived, there was some "famous" band playing, and so we decided we pay the 10 CUC entrance. Too bad the casa was full of some elderly tourists, so everyone just sat there and didn't even move to the (overly loud) music. They played technically... More
