Centro Storico de Camagüey. Date: November, 2013 I have spent two days in Camaguey (est. 1528), which I think is the minimum time required. This city of 300,000 has a large size historical center, but if you are able to walk, you can see most...More

Compared to Holguin's grit-like the centre is more circular, organic as the streets were designed as a maze. This was to deter pirates. The largest city between central and eastern Cuba it sees few tourists and give's a good idea of cuban city life

A very pretty, clean and historical city, rubbish free streets, which is quite something, here everything is recycled. There are many people asking for money, if you give to one person, be warned that person will tell all the other beggars that you gave them...More

This is good spot to hang out in to have coffee and watch the people and their culture live life. Calm clean safe and secure by Cuban standards passing time here allows one to soak in the seeds of a different culture with sensitivity

Camaguey is in the middle of the island and capital to the Province of the same name. The province is mostly flat with long periods of little rainfall making it somewhat like a Caribbean Kansas/Nebraska. And like those states agricultural with considerable cattle raising activity---...More

We had a limited time in Camaguey and so we looked a little in the city centre. The city is fascinating with lot of colonial building. Moreover, there are a lot of narrow road where it's easy to get lost.

I stopped for two nights in Camaguey and could happily have stayed longer. It's a charming city and well worth a visit. I was there in September 2017 as part of a tour of Eastern Cuba with Cuban Adventures. The centre of Camaguey is a...More

More colonial buildings and churches than Trinidad, very cultured city filled with parks and other landmarks. Food options are limited in the Old Downtown, but moving out from the cobblestone streets you will find restaurants and bars.

Unlike most Cuban cities, Camagüey's old town is not laid on a grid which makes it interesting to explore. Lots of perspectives, quaint squares, Baroque churches and old buildings. Less touristy too!
