The Habana tunnel was closed on the day we visited so getting there and back was an hour each way (I am told this is not the norm). The reception desk was unmanned for about 20 min. so gaining access wasn't easy either. But our English speaking guide was very good and I was glad to see this after reading... More

We had to get a taxi through the tunnel to reach the fort but it was worth it. The only drawback is the price that tourists pay compared to locals, but that is the case when visiting most attractions in Havana. The views from the fort are fabulous and there is a very good exhibition (in Spanish and English) about... More

Don't want it to turn into disney, but felt the exhibitions could have been done better , there are areas running with stagnant water and missing and dangerous handrails Rooms filled with rubbish and cannons rusting away where they stood just gave the impression of neglect It is still an interesting place to visit and i would recommend paying the... Very well preserve. it is great to take pictures of Havana. Every night at 9 pm you can witness and old tradition a cannon is fired to advise the locals is time to close the gate of Havana.

El morro is a great first stop as it helps you get acquainted with Havana. Go see the lighthouse and you can see for miles around. There's a second part of the fort across the street where they shoot off the cannon at 9 PM and is a real treat to watch

Old fortress that was never used in war. Guards the narrow entrance to Havana Bay. This is where to go to get rum and cigars. The prices are pretty fixed in Cuba and here you are assured of getting the real deal.

El Morro is an impressive and well maintained fortress in Santiago de Cuba. This historical landmark served as a military fortress and as a prison during the War of Independence and the Spanish-Cuban-American wars. The site overlooks Havana and offers an incredible view of the city.
