Had the pleasure to visit this amazing Cathedral on March 22/17. The huge pillars are made of marble, the architectural work that has gone into this building is breathtaking and your jaw will drop the entire time inside. Speaking of inside, as you enter the main door and turn to the left (u view the inside clockwise) if you have... More

I am not a religious person, but the architecture of this building and area of town is beautiful and worth visiting. I stumbled across the Cathedral and found a small restaurant just behind it to the right in an alley that I spent a considerable amount of time at, drinking mojitos, people watching, staring at cute waiters and listening to... I have visited many European Cathedral's so as far as Cathedral's go it is quite dark inside and so many tourists you cannot really appreciate this place. People should be quiet and respectful in 'Churches' but everyone doing a walking tour of Havana will look inside so it's not peaceful & it's beauty is spoiled by the hordes entering. I... More

First saw this plaza in 2010 and keep coming. The sunday morning mass usually features an fantastic choir that in itself makes it an event. The catedral bell tower provides a great view for those who are not faint of heart, the view from the second floor resturant is also pleasent.

The cathedral is a Baroque jewel surrounded by elegant stone buildings and makes a nice backdrop to the lively square. The inside and the view from the tower are quite nice too!

This is a lovely square where the cathedral dominates, but there are several other historic buildings as well. A few touristy but picturesque restaurants are also in the square. However, the cathedral was never open during our stay, including on Sunday morning. I guess it's politics. Some of the other churches in Havana are now performance spaces.

This place is quite strange if you observe it. The cathedral (catholic church) has two uneven towers with two different size bells. There are some nice (but extremely touristic, EXTREMELY) restaurants near there

Other squares nearby but this was our favorite architecturally and lots of folks simply taking in the aura. Hemingway's local bar is just a couple of blocks away if interested.
