    Local tour guide for Cuba
We spent 7 days in Havana staying at the Iberostar Parque Central hotel in the Old Town. It is centrally located. Lots of historic buildings and plenty to do within walking distance of the hotel. Our travel agent connected us with a local tour guide, Humberto (Email: humbertomesa68@yahoo.es). He is very knowledgeable, friendly and a safe driver. He was accomodating to our requests. I learned so much about the history of Cuba that I would not have if I didn't have a local tour guide. He took us to an amazing restaurant near the historic grounds. I don't have anything negative to say about him. :) I would definitely recommend him.

    Beautiful city
Havana is a captivating city that shines brightest during the winter months. With scorching summers and high humidity, the cooler winter season from November to March provides a more pleasant experience. Exploring the city’s rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning architecture becomes a delight without the sweltering heat. Although the lack of a distinct tourist season means some shop closures, the overall charm and beauty of Havana make it one of the most alluring destinations for a winter getaway.

    Finally Made it to Havana
I was in awe from the moment I got off the plane. After years of yearning, I finally made it to Havana! As expressed by others, one feels like stepping back in time...not so much of a long time since I was born in Jamaica. There were quite a few similarities. Loved the architecture and the how interesting to observe the striking contrast from home. Otherwise it is a city and I prefer the country. The unexpected graffiti on random street corners, the constant noise, kids playing in the streets at night, neighbors greeting each other in the mornings. I will be back.

    Real Havana is Old Havana
Old Havana is a very picturesque city. We loved walking through its streets, it's like stepping back in time. There are different interesting museums like the Museum of Fine Arts. There are also small shopping where you can find souvenir. It's worth visiting!

    Interesting city
I stayed three days in Havana Vieja which was about right. There are lots of interesting buildings, some in bad repair but a lot of renovations are underway at the moment. As with any capital city, there are scammers but they will take a polite 'No' and move on. The open top tourist bus is a great option to get an overview of the whole Havana area. Plenty of reasonably priced bars and restaurants also.

An old city like no other
Therr are many old cities or casco viejos around the world, specially in spanish colonized countries but none lika Havana. The old buildings and decaying facades with old cars passing are images we can't see noehrre in the planet. This is what makes old Havana very singular.

    Stunning Havana Cuba
Stunning is the first word that comes to mind when I reflect on my time in Old Havana, it's just stunning. It's historical context, architecture, and the Cuban people make it something special and it's a must see when you go to Cuba, which I highly recommend. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site and the minute you see it in person, you will understand why. Pack your bags and head to Havana Cuba!!

    Amazing
Had an overnight here onboard cruise ship. We did the hop on bus tour for $10 per person which gave us an overview. We went to the main square late afternoon and had lovely drinks on rooftop Iberostar hotel. Lovely views, service and reasonably priced for such a grand hotel. Had a full day out in a classic car, went to Santa Maria beach then amazing lobster lunch at Don Pepe by the beach car park. $12 for whole lobster. In the restaurant there was a table magician, highly worth the few dollar tips and a father and son duo. Classic car brought us back to ship. Amazing time in Havanna.

Beautiful old Havan, lunch and Hemingway
Full day tour from hotel to Havana. Takes time to pick up guests at other hotels. Beautiful old buildings. Old cars in like new condition? Amazing! Even modern old Havana is nice. Try and get away for the entire free time allowed. The guide takes you places to shop. Visit Hemingway’s suite and his favourite bar down the street (quite a ways.)There is a life sized statue of him people watching.

    Great food, rum, and people
Just returned from a weeks stay in Havana and made several trips into Old Havana. Had a fantastic time. Did a self guided walking tour through the four squares, took a two hour tour in a ‘59 Chevrolet, did a street vendor tour, and had a cooking class and lunch on a rooftop in Old Havana. Lots of shopping, plenty of restaurants, good rum. I highly recommend spending time in Old Havana.

Charming old city streets, forts, Lots of bars and restaurants many with live music, galleries with creative original art at bargain prices. Very safe to get around during day and felt safe at night especially if street wasn't deserted. Can easily navigate by foot or inexpensive pedicab. Area contains dozens of private pensiones. Many look shabby on the outside but are quite secure, comfy with A/C inside. Check carefully for museum schedules. Some are closed Sunday. Others are closes Monday.

Sharing in case you are thinking like myself with a romanticized vision of stepping back in time and experiencing “Old Havana”.
Had excitement and high hopes for this long awaited trip. Stayed in the Old Square’ Plaza Vieja’. Left early!! Wanted to get out of there.
In honest opinion, you can do Havana in a day, max 1 night. There’s only limited areas to go that are now safe, you are constantly followed and harassed despite polite, firm, continuously having to keep walking and saying ‘no gracias’ on repeat, to no avail.
I understand but … way too much. Apparently it didn’t used to be so bad.
Dirty is an understatement. Dog poop everywhere on sidewalks, roads… hard to avoid. Don’t wear your shoes inside at all!
Any areas outside of ‘tourist streets’ are not where you wanted to be, even as a seasoned off the beaten track traveller. Buildings are crumbling…beyond tourist areas.. it’s just sad.
Recommend that if you decide you still want to see it, do a day trip with a guide. That’ll be sufficient and will help to keep people from constantly being at you.

The only beautiful side to Cuba is in the outskirts, not Havana. The people live well beyond poverty, it looks like a war zone, there are sections that are nice. The food is amazing. The people are really nice and you can walk around and not be bothered. People are always offering to help if you get lost. However, I find that because they don’t make enough money they are forced to lie and manipulate to get more money from tourist. I really hated this. Not everybody did this, but most did. They would charge double if not, triple the price if you didn’t negotiate or let them know that you’re not done. Tour guides that take you anywhere you’re actually paying for them and not even knowing about it. Went to dinner with our tour guide, and their meal was included in our. Not sure if the guy knew this or not but everybody is in cahoots with each other. Everyone knows what’s going on and they all work together to hike up prices and take as much money from tourists as they can. Very sad. Not a place I would visit again. However, they are very rich and culture, I learned a lot.

Happened on this restaurant while strolling. Ludmilla was a great waitress. She was training a new colleague. She recommended a Cuban sandwich as we wanted a small snack and I had a passion fruit mojito. One of the best drinks I have ever had. Highly recommend. Sat out front to people gaze but apparently big garden. All staff were courteous and genuinely friendly and nice.
