Carlisle Bay is an urban beach within Bridgetown. Emphasis on urban.
The beach itself is beautiful: white sand sloping gently into turquoise water. The problem: this beach doesn't get much "alone time." It's lined with hotels, restaurants and bars that crowd the beach with their...More
Carlisle bay is a nice beautiful beach with plenty of action. You can go to the Boatyard for a busy scene or go off to the side near the Raddison Hotel & Hilton for a more calm area.
For those that go towards the calm...More

We took the easy way out to get from the cruise ship to Carlisle Beach - a 3 1/2 hr cruise ship excursion. The ride was in a small bus to Harbor Lights. If you are going by taxi or walking to Carlisle beach I recommend a stay at Harbor Lights if you want a lounger, access to WC/ refreshments/shower. See my review of this establishment and rental fee for its loungers. However, I would not want to walk the very long walk from the port (can be a long walk even from the ship to the port exit) to this beach - mostly unshaded - although I could see other cruisers were doing so. At Carlisle Beach there are no taxi stands so some arrangement for pickup should be made with the taxi driver who dropped you off, or you could ask Harbor Lights to make the taxi call for you.
