Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were interested in seeing the market after looking at information online which said there were places to eat at also. Maybe we went on the wrong day (Thursday) or wrong time of year. There were some vendors along the street and a small number inside the building. There were spaces for many more vendors. Most vendors were selling produce and one was selling leather sandals. We politely declined the first time we walked by the sandal vendor but we when passed by on our way back, he said we had cold vibes because we didn't stop. Not much else of interest in the area for tourists.

This is not an attraction or point of interest for visitors. Limited selection, lots of imports; Chinese garlic, mangoes from Nicaragua etc. Bored and disinterested vendors. Not very clean, garbage bags piled up. We purchased a watermelon and were shocked with a poor quality, tasted like coloured water.

What an amazing place! An indoor market stuffed full of local people each with a stall of fresh produce, lots of which I had never seen before. Noisy, bustling, where local people by fresh fruit and veg, also shark and whale oil which we were told is good for the joints but declined to try! Loved it!

Many varieties of vegetables, some which you hardly see on the super market make this market a unique worth while visit. The vendors are friendly and respectful. Vale for money if you ask me.

Another place included in my local walk through Bridgetown, and again easy to reach from the cruise terminal. Plenty of gorgeous fresh fruits and vegetables and an essential outlet for the locals

My husband and I came here on a Monday because our flight got in too late on the Saturday before and there were only a couple vendors there. Although, we still got most of what we needed we would have loved to see the market full of people. The 2 vendors we bought from were very nice and helpful telling us about local fruits and vegetables.

Its so wonderful how you get a market filled with mostly every fruit and vegetable you can think of. This reminded me alot of back home. The locals were very helpful in allowing you to receive the best quality for your dollar! Want to make a freshly squeezed juice, make a smoothie, a salad whether fruity or more on the nutritious side. Cheapside Street Market is the one stop shop!!!

We visited on a Saturday - traditional market day with lots of stalls outside stretching along the main road. Parking is a bit far away as the nearby multi storey was closed but there is another one just up the road into town. Luckily we have a fold up plastic trolley, which helps to shift all the produce selected by Dr Deborah.
Local tomatoes were BBD 1 per pound outside but more expensive (up to 2) inside, so we shopped mostly outside. One lady was selling huge green avocados at a reasonable price, so we bought some of these. Broccoli was pretty expensive, but better than the nasty stuff in Massey. Breadfruit was cheap and good quality. Lots of fresh vegetables for sale.
There was also a man selling Golden Palms for BBD 10 (smallish but the man across the road wanted 40 and was prepared to go down to 30 for slightly larger ones).
Only a short walk from the fish market - easy to put a few meals together using both markets.

I love to visit colorful local markets and this was it. Vegetables, spices, and everything else one would want to find in a tropical marketplace. I got some fresh spices and a lot of sauces plus a lot of pictures, just a great spot. It may not be clean but it was colorful and with some musicians playing as well.

A beautiful structure, however we were met with disappointment due to very little action and vendors

What are the opening times for the market?

I'm really sorry but I don't know. It was a while ago and I think it was open most of the morning. Certainly from around 9am as we were taken by the chef from our hotel on a culinary trip. It was very vibrant and the upstairs street food with a beer was delicious.
I hope you visit and enjoy it as we did. :)
