If you go to whale bay it is worth climbing up to the fort. The views are breathtaking. There isn't much of a fort here so would only be worth it if you are at the beach

I go here every time I visit just to sit in the quiet and try to imagine how it was when it was properly in use ,although it is a well know attraction nearly every time I have been it has been deserted and is just a lovely spot to sit and reflect on life in general

It's always fun to tour old forts especially in Bermuda and Whale Bay is no exception. Plus, the views are terrific. Especially at sunset.

The place is quiet and in front there is a beautiful golf course but a sign advised us that it was an off-limits... More

Just before teeing on the 15th hole you come across the Whale Bay Battery. Quite interesting and unexpected in the middle of the Port Royal Golf Course

but they never did. Bermuda really must've had a persecution complex to so heavily reinforced this island! One can walk through the battery, though the cannons are missing. There are nice views to the South Shore, as it's on a 'rise'. It's a prettier location than most of the reinforcements but when you've seen one (Bermudian) battery, you've pretty much... More
