Yes the ferry from dock yard to Hamilton is very easy. It departs from dock yard just a few mins walk down from where the cruise ships docking space is so just at the beginning of the pier leading to the cruise ships. That takes you straight into Hamilton main street where the harbour nights is.
I would recommend the ferry as it is quicker than driving and more reliable than busses or taxis.
