This little museum is worth a visit if you like history. My husband was fascinated by the role Bermuda played in the US Civil War. He read and watched every possible thing in the museum and then we spent some time talking with the young man who works at the front desk. He was wonderful to talk to. They also... More

This charming little museum turned out to be a big surprise...lovely volunteer working there convinced us to stay and explore the upstairs. For $5 per person, this is a must see to learn about the relationship between Bermuda and the Southern States during the Civil War and the blockade running ships.

The building where the museum is located was the headquarters to Confederate States of America agents. The island of Bermuda was On the route from and to England from Charleston South Carolina. Running the Union blockades was a risky business so Bermuda was a transfer spot where cotton was unloaded from Confederate ships and reloaded onto English vessels with the... More

My 77 year old dad was fascinated with this little museum. He spent quadruple the time I did upstairs. We have two different interests when it comes to museums. I like to see items, take pictures, and skim the info. He likes to read it all and soak in the history. So, while I would give it a 3 star... More

The offices of the Confederate agent, Major Norman Walker, were housed here during the American Civil War (1861-1865), which makes this significant historic building a most appropriate site for the permanent exhibit Rogues & Runners: Bermuda and the American Civil War. Our video presentation, Bermuda: Centre of the Atlantic, features paintings and documents in telling the story of Bermuda and... More

A great place to walk around and see a large part of Bermuda's history. Many sites were closed at the same time for restorations which was very disappointing. Learned a lot. Beautiful area.

To be fair, I cannot give a review of this attraction as I was surprised and disappointed to find that it was closed when I traveled to visit it from the Navy Dockyard on Friday, June 26. As it turns out, this museum is open M-Th and Sat, 10-4. Shame on me for not checking, however I simply never thought... More

I wandered into this museum thinking I would have a quick look round. But it was so interesting that I ended up reading all the posted commentary. The museum primarily focuses on the ships setting sail from Bermuda that tried to get through the North's naval blockade of the southern states during the U.S. Civil War. Many of these ships... One of the few bargains in Bermuda. Get there for the free morning talk by Ruth, who is a real gem of a lady. Find the Reynolds and Gainsborough, also many Tucker's and Maclets.
