Eye openingly informative!

The Bermuda National Trust tours and museums are marvellous. Up close looks at 400 years of history in Bermuda, and how this little island played important, if not pivotal roles in the American Revolution and the Civil War. Fascinating stories about the people that made a difference. Beautiful furniture, China and artefacts, and a great little gift shop in St Georges. Anyone with the slightest interest in history will enjoy hours here...

Interesting history of the island
Aug. 2019
The Bermuda National Trust Museum is quite a small museum situated in the center of St George. It has a number of artifacts, pictures and lots of information on the history of the islands, in particular the part it played in the American Civil War as a key staging point for providing supplies to parties in the conflict. As members of the UK National Trust, we received free entry to the museum.

One of the better gift shops in Bermuda

If you’re looking to purchase something other than beach clothes or jewelry in Bermuda, this is really one of the few places you can do it and at reasonable prices to boot. I usually wait and shop around but other than this, there are really very few places to go. The staff can also tell you which historic houses to visit, including Tucker House, which is nearby, and Verdmont, which is a little far away.

The upstairs museum is due for an update and talks primarily about Bermuda’s involvement in the American Civil War. This is a touch sugarcoated considering that this led to a major diplomatic crisis between the US and Britain in which the US wanted the Brits to compensate them millions of dollars for the negative impact of the British blockade running.

Trustworthy Shop at The Bermuda National Trust Museum

We did not take the museum tour but rather came here for the goods made by the local artisans; this is 1 of the best 2 places on the Island where you can find locally made goods - the other one is the Bermuda Craft Market at the Royal Naval Dockyard.

TIP: Good prices, decent variety - they do accept credit cards.

A small charming museum with an even more charming proprietor. I learned new things about Bermuda’s involvement in the Civil War. Well worth the price of admission.

Small but informative museum focusing on Bermuda's role in the US Civil War
Jun. 2018 • Couples
We stumbled upon this small museum in the heart of St. George's during our recent visit to Bermuda. We decided to pay the small admission price ($5) in order to view the 4-room museum upstairs. (Note: there is also a DVD viewing room on the first floor, but we did not take advantage of this.) The museum exhibits focus mainly on Bermuda's role in the US's Civil War. Officially, Bermuda, a British country, was neutral, and yet they served as a haven for southern blockade runners. I found it interested and learned quite a bit! We also enjoyed the large map showing all the shipwrecks that have occurred along Bermuda's coral reefs. The museum, which is housed in a historic building, also includes a small gift shop on the first floor that houses some unique, reasonably priced items. Young children would likely be bored here, but would definitely recommend this stop for adults and curious older kids.

Really interesting little museum, telling the islands history right back to the earliest settlers. Plenty to see and very good value at $5.

Really found the Rogues and Runners museum super interesting and learned a lot. It's a small museum so perfect if you don't like to spend lots of time in a museum. A nice change from tourist shops.
