I can't speak for the beauty of the pond or trails around it (some reviewers seemed underwhelmed, understandably), but some perseverance will bring you to a rocky shoreline that is well worth the hike. The volcanic rock is very unusual (and rough on hands and clothes) and photogenic. Kids (we saw mostly family groups) seemed to especially enjoy all the... More

Despite the hot, humid day, this was a lovely and peaceful walk along paths through some tropical foliage that passed a scenic, rocky coastline. We reached the reserve from a nearby bus stop. Be aware, as we walked by Spittal Pond itself there was a stagnant fetid odor. But then soon after climbing up a small hill we came to... More

We spent a lovely morning in early April walking through the Spittal Pond area with our guide, Lynn Thorne. Lynn points out things that we would never have noticed and she has an eagle eye for the birds. We were led to the coast where the waves were crashing against the rocks and saw a Bermuda Longtail, one of the... More

Came here to check out the nature found a poorly signed park next to a cattle ranch with a mid sized pond. Really couldn't find any charm in this place. Wouldn't come here if I knew.

My husband and I decided to visit Spittal Pond during our recent trip to Bermuda. We were staying in Sandys Parish so we had to figure out which bus route to take and we had to make a transfer but it was fine. What a surprise! The pond itself is fine, and the birds are great. But I didn't know... More

The sky was a little cloudy so I decided to take a trip to Spittle Pond Nature Reserve for a walk and a little bird spot. Sadly I have no idea what birds are what apart from long tail, kiskadee and pigeons but nonetheless I had a lovely walk around the pond. Great sea views with waves crashing against the... More

I learned about Lynn Thorne from another reviewer on this page and hired her for a few hours for a birding trip when our cruise ship visited Bermuda. She picked me up at the pier and we set out for Spittal Pond. Although I had hoped to see more birds, it was a lovely hike around the pond. Lynn was... More

We spent a late Saturday morning walking around this serene and quiet nature preserve. The park actually spans over 60 acres but there is a trail that goes all around the pond. We saw lots of beautiful plants, flowers, and birds. Be careful with the Stinging Nettle.. we saw plenty of them along the path. Try to find Jeffrey's Hole,... More

Being a keen photographer, I usually judge an attraction largely by the quality of photos I get there. Did I get good photos at Spittal Pond? Not really. But what really made this a good experience was the tour given by Lynn Thorne. Lynn is an interpretive tour guide and wildlife rehabilitator. From the get-go, it was obvious that she's... More
