We did a day trip with John's Taxi Service and Tours and it was his son that took us out on the boat for the FBS. This is such a great experience, hundreds and hundreds of birds, lots of males with their big red chest puffed out to attract females, it really is something to see! Easy 10 minute boat... More

We were taken to the sanctuary by a lovely man called Guinness! He was very informative & interesting. He then took us to the beach between the lake & the sea which was beautiful. It was a very memorable trip.

I am not a huge bird watcher by any means, but this was a very unique tour. The frigate birds migrate between here and the Galapagos Islands. We toured during one of their mating seasons so the males were in full "costume" for the ladies. You do go out in small boats for this tour so be aware it can... More

We have been to Barbuda before, and had a super fun tour with Clifford Jeffrey. This trip, we went with George Jeffrey, as Clifford was not available, and we loved George just as much! the birds did not disappoint, even though we were here almost a month earlier in the mating season. This is such a treat of nature, to... More

This is obviously a special place to visit, especially during the mating and breeding season. Do respect the markers and don't go too close (and tell off anyone who does) - worrying the birds just pushes them further back over time and will eventually cause them to leave

Had a day on The Excellence. The bird sanctuary was an optional part of the trip. Wasn't too bothered about going, but the other option was more time on the beach. So glad I went. Speedboat ride to the sanctuary was refreshing. Then to see the birds in their natural habitat was amazing. The guide was interesting and informative.

We had visited Galapagos and had seen the frigates there. The frigate sanctuary in Barbuda far surpasses what the Galapagos has insofar as frigates. Must see!

If the pictures don't convince you keep in mind that most of the people visit this place as a part of of the 17 Mile Beach combo with its beautiful sandy beaches and amazing turquoise waters. The sanctuary is about 10-15m small motor boat ride away from where the bigger boats stop, though on "the other side of the sands"... More

The only other place in the world where you can see these birds is the Galapagos so check them out while you can here! I honestly didn't have a great desire to go but was out numbered. I am so glad we went. It really is such an incredible experience. You are so close to these amazing birds. It is... More

I think Barbuda has many more birds in residence than people. This is a worthwhile activity if you are on Barbuda, or stop at Barbuda (cruise, or ferry from Antigua). A trip by boat across the lagoon brings you close in to the bird sanctuary where you can see many frigate birds with red pouches, much flapping, and fluttering and... More
