Just place to stop when travelling from/to Baby Beach. Nice views to take a pictures. Massive anchor.

Located at the southern part of Aruba, it does take time to get to if you are not going in a tour. We rented a car and drove to see it.
It is a beautiful monument with a great backdrop of the sea behind it. It has to be about 20 feet high since I stand about 5'10. Stopped and took a few pictures and the we were on our way. You are able to climb it on the lower half but watch your step. Not a must, but if you have the time, should definitely check it out.

On your way to Baby Beach, this is an opportunity to take a few minutes to learn about Aruba's maritime past, which is inexorably linked to its oil refinery present, while also paying tribute to those sailors who have lost their lives in these waters.
The anchor was dredged from the seabed from one of the many tankers that used to serve the oil refinery on the south end of the island. Despite significant efforts, the vessel from which the anchor came has never been identified, although there are several candidates. Repainted, it now stands as a constant reminder of all those who lost their lives in the waters around Aruba in support of the constant flow of oil into and out of the island.
If you would like to learn more about the history of the anchor, as well as The Colony, or the self-supporting city within Seroe Colorado which once supported the oil refinery, visit lago-colony dot com. This website is a fascinating look at a period in the history of Aruba which still influences the politics and economics of the island to this day.

When you see this anchor and make a left you will see people wind surfing, if you take a right you will see a vendor daily selling local goods and if you keep going you will end up at Baby Beach..

Worth the morning drive to see the sunrise from this point! it's on the way to Baby Beach. If you are there that early, go ahead and go down to Baby Beach. You will probably see kite surfers out there while the sun is coming up. Absolutely gorgeous!!

Stopped and got a super cute pic on the way to Baby Beach. Nothing else to do here, just made a 5 minute stop and it was a beautiful view

One thing about Aruba that is very interesting. If you rent a car you can go driving and go down a desolate empty rode and all of a sudden there is some famous land mark or fantastic beach. This anchor is literally in the middle of nowhere, but on the way to baby beach. If you go down the road a little bit further out of the blue alone is this pleasant islander man selling coconut water.
Aruba is full of pleasant surprises. I always felt safe.

Make sure you take in the anchor when you visit Baby Beach. It’s a great photo op and well worth a few minutes of your time. It’s also a nice tribute to the memory of all seamen.

If your going to baby beach you won’t miss it and can take a picture. It’s a nice sentiment but only a red anchor and nothing else here
