Climb the steps to an overall view of the island. See the hotel area from there. But also dirrection to the other side. And the sea around the island. Bring some water to quench your thirst in the hot sun, but please don't litter.

Years ago we hiked up the side of this hill finding our path as we went, but now there are steps and a little park to get you started. The view from the top is amazing but with the heat, the hike is challenging.

For a high, scenic view in Aruba, visit Fort Zoutman in downtown Oranjestad for $5 cash and climb bell tower (6 ladder stairs up). I have an aversion to wasp/hornets and so about a third of the way up Mount Hooiberg finally gave up climbing due to the pesty insects. No more Mount Hornet for this girl! Two climbers told... More

Went here early one morning for something to do. Easy to find with Google maps and the road signs. We took it steady going up the steps and it was hot work for us. Half way up were swarms of wasps that stung me and a number of other visitors as they went up. The view of Aruba is worth... More

We were introduced to this hike by the hosts of the rental unit who generously offered to take us along on there regular exercise hike up what the locals call Hay Stack Mountain. Wow this was an experience of a lifetime. It was 650 concrete steps straight up the mountain. Thank goodness the constructors created a few landings where one... More

We hiked up Hooiberg with our kids one morning as exercise and to see the view. The stairs up the hill are well maintained and there are around 630 steps up. There are areas to move out of the way to allow others to pass. We got there just in time because as we were coming down there was considerable... More

A fun climb. Concrete steps, a good cardio workout! Like a stair master but with a better view when done. Wear good sneakers or hiking shoes. Went with 4 adults. Not good for little kids due to narrow steps in places. There are a few resting platforms. Took about 20-30 min to go up with a few stops to rest... More

This is the highest peak on aruba and you are able to see the entire island. On a clear day , if you look closely, you can see Venezuela! So worth the hike up! Once you get up there, go to the left and there's a path where you sit atop rocks and take awesome pics of yourself standing high!

There are 591 steps up to the top of Mt. Hooiberg. It is a good climb, though only a portion has railings. I was hoping to have an amazing view at the top, but it was just average. There was a building and a lot of cactus in the way of an amazing view.

You can pretty much see the entire island from the top. Well, not really. But it is a great view. Not too hard of a climb. The downside is that the top is not developed for tourist viewing so you don't really get panoramic views and you have to work around the towers and pipes for some views. But nevertheless... More
