Long Bay

About
On the far-eastern coast, you'll find coral reefs in water so shallow that you can actually walk out to them. Along the beach are the Long Bay Hotel and the rambling Allegro Resort Pineapple Beach.

The beach bar and staff were the BEST and the pool was beautiful as was the beach. I only had one complaint. We had a pool villa and the tiles around the pool were extremely slippery if you had wet feet. As a result I only got in the villa pool once. My husband and I spent a day in the capital. It was very hot and there was a cruise ship in town so also crowded. So much for sale in the stores was all the same. Make sure you bargain if you buy from someone off the street. Otherwise you'll pay a ridiculous price. My advice would be to skip the city and tour the island instead.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 July 2024

Visited Long Bay and asked beach vendor how much they charged for 2 sunbeds plus the sunshade. Was gobsmacked when told US$20 per person! Heard later it's because this is where they bring cruise ship guests. Other beachs around island only charged US$2 per person..... Also, half of the beach seems to be a "no go area" to general public as it is used by Pineapple Beach Club Hotel guests.

All 4 of our group agreed that this was the best beach to swim at of the many we visited in Antigua. Stunningly clear waters, soft sand, a bit of shade and for those that wanted, some water sports as well. The good is the resort doesn’t take up the whole beach, so you can actually enjoy it without feeling like you’re trespassing

Extremely quiet beach with crystal waters. Pineapple hotel is at one end but still very quiet. Lots of space and great vistas. Calm waters bracketed by reef. Liked the Husband and wife couple running the Italian up the stairs. Don’t expect speedy service or to get the bill brought but it is great food and extremely large measures of spirits! We did get approached to buy marijuana despite having a baby but the guy just tutted at me and walked off grumbling when I said I wasn’t interested.

One of our favourite beaches. Avoid the hotel on the left, and park yourself on the porch of one of the abandoned beach cabins at the far right of the beach. Calm stunningly clear water, protected from waves by the reef further out, with brilliant snorkelling. We saw so many fish, hermit crabs in conch shells the size of two of my hands, and several turtles, watch for their heads breaking the surface to breath, they are fairly easy to spot if you are patient, and can be approached if you don’t startle them

It’s a nice enough beach. Not as long as you might expect. At the moment they have lots of seaweed that needs clearing every day with a bulldozer. If Mama pasta isn’t open, there's only a kiosk selling drinks and crisps. Lots pf locals on Sunday evening as it’s popular. Has a nice vibe. Pretty view to right, Pineapple all inclusive on left, where you can’t eat or drink without day pass.

Hubby and I visited Antigua for a week in March and enjoyed an afternoon at Long Bay. Easy beach access and convenient parking. Not too many other people on the beach. We took a lovely stroll on the beautiful white sand. Hubby enjoyed flying his drone and got great video and photos! We snorkeled around, right from the beach, and enjoyed the views but only saw small fish and some coral. The water was clear with good visibility and lovely shades of blue and teal. I hope you enjoy the photos I posted at, above, and below sea level!

Stayed in Long Bay as part of my West Indies tour earlier this year.
Having travelled from a less that satisfactory hotel in Barbados, i was pleasantly surprised to find out how much I liked this place.
Points of note.
The hotel is very remote, if you are after peace and tranquility this is the place.
The food there was excellent, especially the beach front barbeque they held once a week.
The hotel has two waterfronts, the beach and the "long bay"
The beach is stunning as are most beaches in the Carib, it has a restaurant/bar, again as most beaches do.
The long bay (over which most rooms look) is approximately 1 mile long and really nice for water sports if you are into it. Non motorised sports such as kayaking and sailing were free and safe, with the bay being so sheltered.
The locally employed staff were all courteous, and with the hotel being an american managed/owned(?) place everything was very efficiently run.
Would have got a 5/5 from me only it was a little bit too remote for me, 30 mins to the capital/nightlife etc, however if you are looking at this place, you are probably looking for the 'remote' factor anyway.

Hi, austin. What would you like to know about this attraction? How much did it cost from the tour
Written 20 February 2019
We just drove in a hire car from where our hotel was so no extra costs involved, for us just the car for a couple of days and fuel. Sorry can't be more helpful!

Please avoid the island water sports ltd shack on long bay. He is a criminal and has been beating a dog and trying to drown it. The authorities are involved. As is the Antiguan government.

Hi,
We want to stay in the water villa during May and spend time snorkeling. Is the water deep near the water villa (more than 1.5 m deep in low tide?). Does the hotel allow late check out and how much would it be if we want to stay in water villa for an extra 4 hours on the last day? Thanks.
