Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really interesting place and views are terrific. Took some great photos of Neamt below. The castle stands mighty on a hill overlooking the little town. When you first approach it you can't help feel like it is something out of a fairy tale. The walk up to the castle was a nice workout and we found the price to be reasonable.

It's about a 2km walk uphill but it's worth it. It's a true fortress from the 1400's. Genius in it's architecture. Takes about an hour to walk it all. Great view of the region as well.

True fortress. Steep hike to the entrance: A magnificent bridge. Inside all well maintained. Lots of rooms to visit. Some explanation of the history. Kids can climb around. Dolls in the room add a lively perspective to the history (search for the secret meeting room!). Great views over the area. Altogether absolutely worthwhile.

The view from the fortress is amazing. You have to go up for about 1km, but worth the troble. Inside is very well done and you can take a glimpse in the past.

This was my favourite place during the trip through Moldavia. The fortress was renovated, you have written guides in every room. It is quite big and offers a nice view.

I still remember how it looked just a few years ago: a pile of rocks, almost overwhelmed by weeds and with many of the rooms inaccessible for visiting due to the precarious state of the (remains of) fortress. I still remember how impressed I was when I first visited it (3rd grade, 1987).
Now, it is a pretty gem in the small town of Targu Neamt. Worth the climb on the steep path that leads to it. Do stop for a visit, you won't regret it.

It was another very nice surprise to see the high pillars of the fortress re-build. The view is stunning and the history of the fortress is indeed impressive...
Go there and you'll thank to our predecessors for existing before us and being able to create such a wonder...

Nice restauration and a great surrounding views.
Good access but not for disabled people.
Lack of guided tour. Maybe if you ask in advance they can organize something.

Really worth the steep climb....do not worry the road is paved but it is quite a steep walk...car parking is at the bottom very cheap (0,5 eur/ hour ) ..you do not need more tha two hours to visit.entrance fee is also around 1 EUR.The fortress is an important piece of history..very well preserved and rebuilt....the bridge used for entrance was rebuild and it is impressive!Interior courtyard is not big but nice and also a lot of rooms to visit.View is also nice! Everything is nicely refurbished. One minus for the administrators to improve is lack of English translations for many romanian explanations and exhibits and definitely a lot of stories to tell with an audio guide that is currently missing...also website seems to be only in romanian...so you have to google translate it by yourself....another minus for the administrators...that's why does not receive a five star ( and the toilets at the entrance are in poor condition). One interesting thing is a small snack bar where you have to try local pastry ( like 'poale-n brau')..also near the parking area a lot of small shops with all kind of souvenirs many of them handmade. In july there is also a medieval festival organized here that might boost visiting experience to the max.

This fortress is a little hard to get to as you park in a little market area and the entrance to the path is not well marked. But once you find the path a hike uphill to the fortress, it is quite the sight. But unfortunately there was no English reading there, so we enjoyed walking around the different rooms but could not read the history. Still interesting.

I am coming from Iasi and don't have a car. Is there a bus that goes there? Or what is the best way to get there without a car?
