Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited the Omaha beach museum as part of a lads biking week away, remembering the fallen brave. The museum had so many old tanks, machine guns and Second World War items that it brought everything to life, an eye opener on reality. Well worth the visit and the stories of veterans on the walls definitely awe inspiring.

This museum is packed, and I mean packed, with shelves of war items from bullets to clothing to letters to personal belonging - to the point of overwhelming. The displays however involve department store figurines and feel VERY outdated, especially in light of the much more modern museums at Juno and the American Cemetery. If you like looking at all the "stuff" by all means stop; but if you are looking for a more personal insider experience, the other two are much better.

We came by just after New Year and it looked like they weren't open yet. The museum is on the road that leads to the beach so it is hard to miss. There were quite a few things in the parking lot including artillery guns and a tank. We just parked out in the driveway and had a quick look at these items. It would have been nice to have gone in but we made due with what we had.

Thank you for your post. Indeed, the museum is closed during winter time. We hope you'll have the occasion to come back in the area.

Every war museum is different, but this one is really educational and worth the money (€7.50). Their collection is exceptionally breathtaking.
One must experience this in silence, and with respect, and take inspiration for a better life outside. For many have died for us, and others have fought hard for what we now take for granted every day. And this museum hosts that.

Great museum if you are interested in war artefacts - in particular the different types of vehicles that were used in WW2. Has over 40 different vehicles and lots of different re-enacted scenes which helps with visualising what it was really like. Ladies at the ticket desk were really helpful and the gift shop has so many great books on history and WW2 and Normandy. Worth the entrance price. We took our teens and they enjoyed it even if they did finish up before us!

One of many D-Day museums in Normandy. It's right on the famous Omaha Beach. Surprisingly, the exhibition teaches little about D-Day. While countless weapons, equipment and photos are presented, there is little information on the context. Interactive elements are also sought in vain.
We visited around 10 museums in Normandy for D-Day. We would rank the Omaha Beach Memorial Museum in the back to middle third of the rating scale. The top places for us are the Mémorial de Caen and the Airborne Museum in Sainte-Mère-Église.

This museum seems tiny from outside but it is packed with memorabilia and interesting items. They also run a 25 min movie in English and French which can be a good opportunity for relaxing during the Omaha touring. Worth the money.

Museums large and small dot the Normandy coast.
After visiting the splendid Memorial de Caen, you might feel that you've seen enough museums. But each one has a different story to tell. If you haven't seen this one, it's highly recommended.

Museum revisited after an unpleasant experience in 2009 (very austere welcome with no photos taken). Today nothing to see! Staff smiling and very friendly. Photos allowed this time. Cheap entrance and well-stocked museum. Shop varied and cheaper than in some places on the same product. Only downside: parking too small

Respectfully, If you are at Omaha Beach, and you plan on going to Ste. Mere Eglise, please do yourself a favor and go to the 82nd Airborne Museum there instead. It is a much nicer and better value, and you will not be disappointed.
I went to both, and besides the beauty and history of this town, what got me the most was that I actually stood in a spot where I knew exactly what happened, especially at the church.
The museum is without a doubt, a history lover’s must see!
