Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were told that due to global warming the glacier would probably disappear in 10 years. Therefore it is a must see in all its splendid icy white beauty.
There is a special dedicated restaurant with a view of the glacier but unfortunately we could not access it as it was closed for renovation.
Rather visit the museum that is not too far away to learn how glaciers are formed and to go into a simulated ice cave beneath an artificial glacier. You will also find the history behind Otzie, a 5,000+ year old well-preserved mummy from the copper age who was found embalmed and frozen in a glacier in Italy.

Enjoyed a wonderful fjord journey . Along the fjord we passed tiny villages, waterfalls and steep mountains. The green water of the melted glaciers is something unique. This cruise is beautiful .
This trip takes you to the edge of the Jostedalen glacier which is the largest in Europe ( total area is about 487 sq km, bigger than some countries ) This glacier has many branches and one of them is the first one we saw - the Supphellebreen glacier and the second one was
Boyabreen glacier.

Drive right to the end of the road, there is a parking lot there. About a 2 minute walk from the car, you come to a glacial outflow lake. The glacier hangs right above you. Spectacular. There also a cafe at the parking lot. Definitely worth a stop

The glacier is small but gives you an idea of how it was a while ago. The views are nice and you can take nice pictures in the area

Having been to the Glacier museum we then went on to the nearest accessible spot to view the glacier. It was a stunning experience to stand by the ice green pool of melt water below the glacier and imagining it as it would have been not so many years ago when the glacier stretched further down into the valley. The glacier is described as a "hanging glacier" as most of it is still spread widely over the mountain top. Visitors can only crane their necks skywards to see the tongue of glacial ice as it extends down from the mountain ridge. You should be able to see to the left, the start of another hanging glacier which has unexpectedly shown itself on the ridge above. For the visitors' comfort, there is a nice little cafe tastefully carved into the rocks left behind as the glacier retreated.

Not too long of a drive from Sogndal, so if you are in the area please go here and take a look at the glacier. Naturally at it's most impressive in spring/early summer, but great in august too. And it's of course free as everything else in the nature in norway.

Short distance from main road. Short walking from car park to the ice front. Good view. Shop and restaurant at the car park.

A friend from Romania had never seen a glacier before. It is not the size of the likes of what you can see in Alaska or Patagonia but the usual characteristics of a glacier were there. It had an imposing presence. The mix of dirt was evident. The icy cool blue hues caught your eye. This was the highlight of what we saw in Jostedalsbreen NP.

nice glacier with a small lake in front of it that had ice chunks floating in it when we were there in August.

As we were driving toward Geiranger we saw road sign for this glacier and decided to stop. What a surprise! It was a short walk from the parking lot and very impressive to see the glacier! Well worth a stop if you are in this area.
There is also a cafe/ restaurant!. They charge NOK 20 if you want to use the toilet and not a customer in the restaurant. I bough an overpriced ice cream to us the bathroom.
