Amazing sanctuary for tortoises and turtles. Very well run - the animals all seemed very healthy in their natural setting. Great location on either side of a flowing river. Easy to get to from Ajaccio - 20 mins on the train to Carbucia, then a 15 - 20 min walk. Staff were very helpful and lots of information available about all their different species in multiple languages. Overall, a really enjoyable day out in a lovely environment.

Wonderful place, extremely interesting. Does NOT cater for ignorant English visitors. There is a lot of uneven ground and wooden steps and platforms so you need to be fairly mobile. I hope they soon arange an English guide book/information pamphlet. It was the best excursion of our holiday.

We went to visit this centre after we picked up a brochure for it at Cargese's tourism office (much better set than Ajaccio's, surprisingly).
The a cupulatta (turtles/tortoises in Corsican) park offers a wide diversity of turtles and some explanations (rather limited in English but very good and detailed explanations are to be found in French).
The cute tortoises in the nursery are sure to charm the kids but some signs remind you that having a tortoise is not just that easy (as you can also see from the the pad with "damaged" tortoises near the exit).
Note that you cannot pet or feed the turtles.
Definitely worth it if you like nature and understand some French.

This park is well worth a visit. So many species of turtles and tortoises, from the tiny cute ones to the giant Galapagos tortoises. The cats on staff are adorable too. 30 minutes by taxi, make sure to call for one ahead of time when you go back as they have to drive from Ajaccio.

This is a wonderful place located in Carbuccia which is not far from ajaccio. The entrance fee is somewhere around 17€. It houses tortoises from all over the world right from young ones to old ones. Nice to see a place entirely dedicated to them to preserve the species. Nice place to visit and definitely recommended. There are trains from Ajaccio to Carbuccia. Though not many but can refer the link train-corse com / les-horaires to check the timings. Train ticket costs only 2.5€ one way. The train station is on demand. So make sure to press « arret demande>> once mrezana station departs

we visited A Capulatta one afternoon not expecting much. I loved it, i could have stayed and watched he turtles all day. So many different species, a very interesting place to go.
All the literature is in French.
i thought it was defiantly worth the 10€, as it helps to look after the turtles.
you do have to be quite mobile to make the most of your time here.

Great trip. The park has ample parking and good and clean facilities. The turtles and turtoises are great, and so many! Very friendly staff. About 40 mins from Ajaccio. Me and my two sons loved it.

As a turtle owner and a huge turtle/tortois lover I could not miss this place during my visit to Corse. My only regret was that I could only stay about 1hr because I had to take a taxi there and the driver was waiting for me at the parking lot. Otherwise I could have stayed all day adoring all those turtles/tortoises.
This truly is a fantastic place for turtles/tortoises with large (over 6 acres/2.5 ha) open-air landscape similar to their natural habitat. They have shelter, pond, dirt play area, shady spots and sunny area for basking/napping, as well as facilities for incubation, research, and baby turtles.
I was so excited and pleased to see all the turtles/tortoises in nice, healthy condition. Although, that alligator turtle looked a little bored - could use a playmate maybe(?) Those giant tortoises are so magnificent, as well as baby Red-Eared sliders and of course anything in between - box turtles, cherry turtles, star tortoises, terrapins, long-neck, pancakes, sliders and alligator...I can just dream on...
Even if you are not a big turtle fan, you can surely enjoy the winding walk in the quiet, beautiful nature looking at those gentle faces.
Snack bar, a gift shop and restrooms are located by the entrance.

This place seems to be more of a tourist money making business than a genuine conservation sanctuary. As it is often the case, the owners are probably greedy people motivated by profit and not nature/animal protection.
This visit didn't start well as the ticket office staff member displayed a rude and arrogant behaviour. She was asking everyone's nationality. When I gave mine, she doubted my answer and made me feel very embarrassed and upset. What she meant to ask was the country of residence, which I didn't give because she didn't ask! I gave my nationality as she asked! I then had to explain to her that nationality and country of residence aren't the same thing! What a stupid person! Anyway, this person needs to be retrained and to learn the difference between the two. Also, why are they asking those intrusive questions anyway?
In the end, the turtles were alright I guess, but the place didn't feel friendly or genuine. Also, the gift shop is full of plastic made in China merchandise which they wrap in plastic bubble wrap etc. This is extremely hypocritical since turtles are dying from plastic pollution in the Oceans... Get some damn paper bags and recycled sugar paper to wrap the gifts at the very least! And maybe start selling environmentally conscious gifts that respect nature and animals.

Hi, I’m going to be in Ajaccio for a day during a cruise holiday next week and would love to come here! What transport is available to get to A Cupulatta? (For example are there taxis/buses/trains and are they accessible and affordable). Thank you so much for your help :)

What transportation did you use? I'll be at cruise port and don't want to pay $90 for this excursion that also includes 2 hours at the beach (not interested in that) but REALLY want to see the sanctuary. If you used a taxi what's the cost? Got to be less than $90.

Non, nous avons trop de visiteurs pour pouvoir leur permettre de les toucher. Ce n’est pas bien pour les tortues!

Par temps de pluie le mec est il adapte ? Où est ce qu il est principalement fait en extérieur ?
Written 16 May 2019
Bonjour,
Le mec?!
Le parc est tout en extérieur! Et les tortues n'aiment pas la pluie quand il fait frais.
Mieux vaut du soleil.
