If you are staying at the lodge or just having breakfast there, walk the .5 mile connecting trail to the Grotto to start Angel's Landing. Nothing special, but it's a pleasant and easy warmup for what's to come.
This easy, short (1/2 mile one way) trail starts at Zion Lodge and ends at The Grotto where there are a number of pleasant shaded picnic tables. The path is flat and has an easily navigable rocky section as you approach The Grotto.
