It's worth the hike. Bring plenty of water and energy bars. Easier to start from the top by zion ponderosa. If you have the stamina and don't mind strenuous hikes with drop offs you can take the hike from the floor of the canyon.

The first part of the climb was very nice, especially if you start out early. There's a beautiful canyon on the way, and then it gets hot and long, and when you get to the top, four hours later, you want something really spectacular. But...More

The hike is accessed from the Weeping Rock trailhead and the shuttle drops you right at the start. 4 miles out and 4 back. I did the trail in the afternoon. Apart from the canyon section it is pretty much full sun all the way...More

Not everyone in our family was on board with doing the Angel's Landing hike for the fear factor (especially our 11 year old). Since we didn't want to spend the whole hike with a fearful child we decided on the Observation Point trail instead and...More

If you can, try to enter this trail from the Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort. It will shave off 2 miles of the total length. If you can't and you have enough energy, you can take the trail from inside Zion National Park. Its 4 miles...More

As another reviewer mentioned, taking this hike is a good alternative to Angel's Landing. Going at first light makes the experience more rewarding: It's cooler then with less crowds, and you will see light hitting various parts of the spires as it travels across the...More

We took the hike to Observation point as an alternative to Angel's landing, looking to avoid crowds on narrow path that occur at the later one. The hike was definitely worth it and the views in the end are magnificent. I'd recommend it to any...More

We visited Zion over Memorial day weekend and it was so crowded. We originally wanted to hike Angels Landing but once we saw the crowd there we decided to pick a hike that wouldn't feel like a Disney World Attraction. This is a strenuous hike...More

When we started out, my daughter and I were falling behind and could not keep my son and my husband's pace. So we told them to go and not wait for us. We meet up with them when they were making their way back, 11min...More

Fairly steep at times uphill climb, incredible views at the end. Hiking in the middle of the day in the worst heat may make it harder for some. Path by and large is in excellent condition, no scary drops that would alarm children. Fabulous views,...More

Can you give me more detail about "the back way" to hike Observation Point? Where exactly did you start? Is your way as scenic as the regular route? Is it basically the same route except that you started a little farther along? THANKS

I might be slightly wrong about beaver and cedar, now that I look at the map, but from Twin Knolls there are a lot of signs.
