We meant to turn left out of the parking area, but ended up headed right so we had no idea what we were getting into. I kept thinking, Utah is hardcore if they think this is an easy hike. It's not. It gets steep. But it is fine if you're at all active. It's best views are half way up.

We didn't get very far on this hike because of deep snow, but it was beautiful and only had one other hiker who was breaking a path for us. Completely quiet out there and nothing but our path and animal tracks in the snow. We started at the East gate side.

We caught the first shuttle from Zion Adventure Co and did the hike top down, camping overnight at campsite #4. The reservation website crashed when it opened up for our dates in the summer because so many people were trying to reserve sites. Luckily, my fiancee got through and got our site reserved. The beginning of the hike was very... More

yes lots of switchbacks - all uphill and fairly steep , first 2 miles - even on paved trail - most in the expose sun - Oct weather was warm 75-degrees- can't even imgine during hot summer months - but hitting Refrigerator Canon - and you're in the shade and have a nice breeze - still more switchbacks and some... The trail head is well-marked and begins a few miles from Lava Point. It is best to have two vehicles, one parked near the Visitor's Center where the shuttles run, the other to travel to the trail head. The hike begins easy enough, about four miles of relatively flat terrain. It gets more interesting as the trail meanders through burnt... More

West RIm is long-ish but not difficult. The views are epic. Best we had in our week in Zion. Zion Adventure will shuttle you to the trail head and then it's 14 miles mostly downhill to an exit at the Grotto (Angel's landing TH). Expansive canyon views, lovely scup oak and larch groves. Great picnic places. Likely hot in summer... More

The first few km offers fantastic views of Angels landing, every view gets better and better. Go for this part. After you cant see Angels landing anymore, the trail gets less spectacular. I greatly recommend the first part of the hike.

Great lookouts in the end at the Plateau, before that it's kind of bright, hot in the summer and the view is not very entertaining. The end is worth it though. And of course, combined with Angels Landing it's a great nice workout and dayhike

This is really nice hike. But it is too long a trail with good views only in last 2 hours of hike. Also the information suggests 1000 ft. net decline. But before that you have 1000 ft descend and then 1000 ft ascend. So just be careful not to expect only a descend. Also take a lot of water if... More
