Generals Highway. The 10 feet of snow already on the ground additional 8 inches made a difference going up the road though. We stopped to put chains on the car. The ride was uneventful really.there are very beautiful vistas both going up and down the mountain. definitely worth the trip

Take your time, pack snow chains in the winter, and a camera. You will want to stop at the pull outs to take numerous pictures. Absolutely beautiful. Look for the waterfalls.

Beautiful drive! Just is a bummer when you get behind very slow moving cars. Remember, leave no trace! Do NOT write or carve on rocks, do not litter and do not feed wildlife! Pick up pet feces & throw way in trash, bury human feces & completely put out campfires. Preserve nature!

I loved doing this drive as you get to see so much of this section of the park. Make sure you stop at the turn outs to be able to enjoy the scenic views

October 10, 2016. We took a great video driving through here....driving and taking photos doesn't normally do this road justice. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!!

We visited between Christmas and New Years 4 days after a 22 inch snowfall. There is a parking area at the "amphitheater" but since no chain-up assistance is available, instead of having pros who can install you chains in 10 minutes or less, it takes individuals like ourselves 75 minutes to install the chains. There was about a 20 to... More

My husband and I saw a black bear walking through the trees from this beautiful, very curvy highway! Observe the speed limits and enjoy. It's amazing to go higher and higher in elevation as you drive into the park from the south.

Not to be missed drive through pristine Sequoia forest. Late fall was a good time of year to visit with fewer crowds.

This is the only road through the park and is nicely paved. It is also very windy and I too was surprised with the high speed limit. You need to be very careful when planning your trip through the park because the weather can change quickly. If you are going for the day, you will probably enter either from the... More

Given the winding, 1 lane road I found the 45 MPH posted speed limit on the high side. A lot of people going 40 pulled off and let traffic go by. I'm not a slow driver but found myself thinking about the speed limit while driving and hasn't happened in a long time. Road is paved and well maintained but... More
