Driving through the log is really anti-climatic. Pictures may be fun but not a highlight area. There is an uprooted sequoia tree on the way to the log. That is fascinating looking at the root structure. The meadow is pretty. But you can see many...More

This place has it all for visitors to Sequoia. There are a surprising number of Giant Sequoias along the Meadow loop, in addition to a high chance of wildlife sightings - we saw a bear, marmot, and many birds and small critters.

Crescent Meadow Road dead ends at the parking area for Crescent Meadows. We followed the easy 1.6 mile trail to visit Tharp’s Log and Chimney Tree. After we crossed over a couple of footbridges, we could choose a dirt path to the left towards Chimney...More

We did this hike in August 2016. The kids really enjoyed this easy walk and the bonus was we saw a bear in the middle of meadow. The kids just loved that part!

This is a great hike the takes one by a nice meadow (Crescent Meadow) as well as Thorpe's cabin, and Chimney Tree. There are some amazing trees on this hike so be sure to stop and explore as you'll see trees hollowed out enough to...More

This was our family's favorite hike at Sequoia! There are fewer crowds than around General Sherman...beautiful views over the meadow that are surreal...exhilarating smells in the woods...and such amazing colors from the red bark to the tall green canopy of the giant sequoias overhead and...More
