Absolutely breathtaking 9 Mile one way dirt road drive through many switchbacks, past waterfalls and canyons. Lets out at one of the most spectacular vistas we have ever seen, just before the end at the Alpine Visitors Center. Also, just before the beginning of the...More

We had no destination when we entered Rocky Mountain National Park but when we came upon the Old Fall River Road, we knew we had to drive it. It is a dirt road, but hard packed and not difficult to navigate. Just use common sense...More

My family and I started our journey in Rocky Mountain National Park by driving Old Fall River Road and I am so thankful that we did. It offered some of the most stunning scenery of the whole trip and was by far my favorite part!...More

This was my favorite activity in the 4 days spent exploring the park. There are plenty of pullouts and hiking trails along this 9 mile, winding dirt road. You won't regret taking the time to drive it and enjoying the views and trails.

This is a one way road that leads to approximately the middle of the park and connects back with the main road. Lots of small waterfalls, ice formations, more critters as there was less traffic, great views. If you are going through the park I...More

If you have the time and this road is open it's definitely a must do! Fantastic views of the Rocky Mountains. We even got out and walked over to a snow field in AUGUST!

Decided to take this route back to Grand Lake. So glad we did because it just gives another perspective than Trail Ridge Road. There are very tight turns and it is one way only. It is a dirt road. Very cool to drive. It ends...More

Awesome one way road that travels 9 miles up to the top where the Alpine Visitor's Center is located. Go on a day where weather (rain and wind) will not be an issue and this is a one way only road with steep drop offs....More

I think it opens in June but that depends on the weather. The National Park Service has a website that should let you know if it's open as you get closer to the date. Have fun when you go!!

Yes, easily. It's a well maintained gravel road and your mini van will do just fine
