Hiked on Christmas Day, went up the trail and back down on the (closed and snowy) road. Didn't need the snowshoes as the snow was hardpacked, but broke out the microspikes for a short while. Beautiful hike through snow covered tress with a gradual easy climb, we missed the view due to fog but will definitely return !

Mount Walker is a viewpoint just off the main road that goes around the Olympic Peninsula. It would be a great view, however, the day we went was cloudy and there really wasn't much to see. There are pit toilets at the top.

Happened to run into a local at another attraction who told us about Mt. Walker. It is a short drive up the mountain to 2 vistas. Both are worth the visit. We especially liked the view of Hood Canal with Mt. Rainier in the background. If you are on 101 headed south into Brinnon, definitely take the road up to... More

Visiting Mt. Walker can be by car or by foot on a trail. The views from the top are just amazing. Be sure to go in both directions at the top as the views are so different. The trails are easy at the top. Be sure to take your camera.

Stopped on our way out of town did not have much time. Wish we could have stayed a bit longer. 4 mile drive was up a winding dirt road that was narrow in spots but felt safe. Views were beautiful. Glad we squeezed this stop in.

We arrived Seattle in the noon to start our family vacation. We went to Mt Walker based on some positive reviews. The road to Mt Walker Lookout was dirty. After we got the lookout points, there was nothing to view because of clouds. You may not go if the weather is not good.

This is the shortest drive to the best view of western Washington and the Puget Sound, road closed in the winter. Drive or hike (5 miles round trip), the views on the north and south side are spectacular. Pick a clear day or you will be in the clouds. Bring a picnic and enjoy the view. When your out of... More

This is an easy (or hard if you hike) to reach viewpoint on the western side of Hood Canal. It is well worth the effort to drive to the top to enjoy spectacular views.

After reading other sites online reviews, I was ready for a steep climb up. It's a two mile hike with a total elevation gain of about 2,000 feet. I definitely would describe it as a constant climb up. One of the other hikers mentioned 19 switchbacks. I didn't count them from the bottom, but I think that's a pretty close... More

Driving down Hwy. 101, we spotted a sign to Mt. Walker. We took she short drive up the mountain and chose the North Lookout. Wow! You could see Mt. Rainier and the surrounding areas on this beautiful sunny day. The South lookout was not as impressive. Definitely worth the short jaunt up to the North side.
