From the Kilauea Visitor Centre in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, there is a very nice path towards the Sulphur Banks. At the beginning there is a lot of shade as the trees are tall and cover the path. But then the trees are far...More

It's not an over powering totten egg smell. But stay back behind the barriers. Nature is for all to enjoy and disrupting it by violating rules is irresponsible. Don't throw anything into the vents. They're not wishing wells. It's a lovely walk to see the...More

Another stop at the Volcano National Park. Layers of earth with yellow sulphur and corresponding smell. There is nice boardwalk around it. My problem is that when i went from Steamed Vents across the road to Sulphur Banks and walked the boardwalk, there was no...More

This is a very nice hike that can be done as a full circle to and from the Volcano house. Those with breathing difficulties may want to stay away- the sulphur can be strong. The heated steam was interesting to observe... hot steam literally flowing...More

The Sulphur Banks were something I wanted to see, but knew my wife would want to avoid because of asthma problems. I made a quick rush up to see/smell/cough and a quick dash back. My wife was none too pleased as the smell even with...More

a woman on our tour felt dizzy & light-headed when she breathed in the steam. I just felt hot to the point of it being painful. That steam is hot

We followed the trails from the visitor center to the Sulphur Banks and loved this odd landscape. Totally worth a short detour, e.g., to kill time while waiting for the sun to set and then returning to Jagger Museum to see Kīlauea crater at night.

It is a short walk and very unusual, the view is beautiful. Be sure to read the boards in the parking lot. The steam vents are wonderful and it is a great view of the volcano.
