If your coming from kona expect a long day of driving but we felt like this was well worth it. Leave early because your going to be in the car for a long while (aprox 2.5 hours each way) we also didn't see lava flows...More
Although some of the roads and trails were closed due to high sulphur content of the air, driving to the visitor's center & the Caldera was worth the 3 hour drive from our hotel. I have been to Mt. St. Helens in WA state, so...More
The volcanoe is pretty neat to see but the whole drive was beautiful and i would take a friend to go see it again! we went at night so you can see the lava glow!

Hawaii's Volcano National Park is truly amazing. The Kilauea caldera is very impressive and at night you can see the red glow from the molten lava that sits below the crater's rim. We spent 2 days in the park, but for us the most impressive...More
This is locaed in the wettest part of the USA and they charge you 10 bucks to drive in with not much guarantee of seeing anything. Buy a DVD of the lava on a good day filmed from a helicopter is my recommendation

Plan at least 5 hours there. See my review just entered including 2 best hikes.
