This motor tour has many places to stop and hike. Even just driving is beautiful. At the end is a small gift shop. This shop offers beverages to buy. It takes about an hour to drive, but if you plan to stop or hike, plan...More

Visited during fall. There are 2 sharp turns which are scary. Drive slow & enjoy the view. It's a 1 way circular loop for most part, a bit confusing at the end of the trail. Stop at the barns enroute, they are quaint esp with...More

This is a little gem tucked right behind downtown Gatlinburg. It is hard to believe this beautiful nature area sits just a few feet away from the hustle & bustle of Downtown Gatlinburg. You can drive or walk thru & there are stops along the...More

Hard to find. But, once you do , you will be so thankful you did. It's such a beautiful drive with lots of hiking spots and old cabins.

Take the time to drive through this trail. It’s a beautiful way to see the forest. Drive slowly or you’ll miss waterfalls and flowing streams. Pull off on one of the parking spaces and walk to the sites- the cabins, the streams, the bridges. Walk...More

This is a great escape into the woods right off the heart of Gatlinburg. If you don’t have the time to make the drive to Cade’s Cove, we strongly recommend Roaring Forks Nature Trail Drive. You can make an hour of it or a day....More

This motor drive is so much different than the Cades Cove drive but well worth it. It's definitely less crowded than Cades Cove so it's a good drive for a weekend. We really enjoyed it & we will definitely add this to our must do...More

Fall colors were gorgeous at the beginning of November. This was one of my husband and I's favorite drives in the Smoky Mountains. We started the drive at 9 am and finished about 12:30pm. Stopped for The Grotto Falls hike as well as a few...More

After hiking Mt. LeConte, my feet were quite sore (from previous surgeries and ongoing issues). So, we took the ride on the motor trail. The waterfalls, streams, and wildlife are absolutely gorgeous--and we didn't have to take one more step! Plus, the ride is free!

The trail is pretty narrow and winding in some areas which probably explains why it’s closed in winter months. A google search will turn up Smoky Mountain Park website which is a great resource for info on the trail.
