We visited this spot for sunrise and it was quite good. Not too far from parking. Restrooms are there too. Great views like everywhere else in Grand Canyon!

There is really no bad view of the Grand Canyon because it’s a breathtaking natural wonder. But this is a very crowded and touristy overlook, so do try one of the many other options in the park.

Visited in 2009. Probably hasn't changed much. While working in AZ I visited Mather Point twice in a month. What I saw on my first visit took my breath away. It took a few hours at the main lookout just to be able to comprehend...More

This was my first view of the Grand Canyon and I would imagine it is for a lot of people and no picture can ever do it justice, it is truly magnificent.

I visited Grand Canyon National Park South Rim in February 2019. After entering the park, I headed straight to Mather Point as the Ranger recommended this as my first stop. There are several parking lots, the Visitor Center, a book / souvenir store, a café....More

First view of the canyon for many (most?) people coming to the south rim from Phoenix. Only downner is that this is probably the best view from anywhere along the canyon. It just doesn't get any better. Great place to watch the sun rise, the...More

We walked out to Mather point in the middle of a February blizzard and that was my favorite time there. No one was there but us and though visibility was limited, the pictures are amazing due to no crowds. We went back out on our...More

Mather point juts out into he Grand Canyon allowing almost 360 degree views. It is a fabulous place to see the canyon. I imagine that it super crowded during the summer, but when we went it was fairly easy to get out there and take...More

This is the busiest spot near the visitor center. It also has alot of fencing and barriers. Check out the rest of the park for more natural viewing
