Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped here and the view is basically the same as Mohave Point. This View Point is smaller and not impressive at all. Had we known, we would have skipped it. The hike from Mohave or Monument Creek is not the best as the trail is not paved, narrow, and very close to the edge without guard rails. We would not recommend the hikes to it from either point during inclement weather or after a snow fall.

Looking right down into the canyon is quite amazing.
The Abyss is a point where you can stand next to the rim and look down. Worth the trouble getting there

Yet another great spot to get off the red shuttle and absorb the fantastic views the canyon has to offer!

Cool name. Awesome views. We found all the stops worth while. As implied by the name, this one was close to the edge.

Another great vantage point for viewing the Grand Canyon. Dress warm in February and watch Windchill factors

This was one of my favorite parts of the Hermit Rest shuttle route (red line). You can see down the sheer sides of the canyon and there are also some great views as far as the eye can see.

The rails are minimal, so keep a close eye on any kids.

The only view point I was disappointed in was the Abyss. My expectations were to see something more grand or a deep chasm however it was not any deeper or steeper and the views were not any better than any of the other major points. Maybe if it had a different name my expectations would not have been so high. Perhaps they should provide a more meaningful or hostoric name for this point.

This was magnificent. You can see so far and so deep into the canyon here. This was the only place that I actually thought my head might spin,. It was so much to take in but such a beautiful spot!

I took the Shuttle to the Abyss as this made a great place to start hiking a segment of the Rim Trail toward Mohave Point. The view into the chasm was spectacular at this location! Unlike other parts of South Rim, this area receives more sunshine resulting in less snow and ice. The trail in this area, while difficult, was less icy. Definitely worth a stop!

One of the more prolific vistas along this tour with a clear view of the depth and expanse of The Grand Canyon. A definite must see of the many vistas offered in the park.
