we did this trail which is not all that picturesque but not at all crowded. Also there are no mules on this trail We hiked down to the Santa Maria Spring which is just a water spout and shelter.

The entirety of the Grand Canyon is beyond words... all of it is breath-taking... but we enjoyed the relatively smaller crowds at the lookouts along Hermit Trail. We stopped at Hopi Point and Mohave Point, and the views were spectacular.
