Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The public areas of the Kold Studio are very interesting and informative. But, for a really special experience, you need to take the Tour. Our guide, Ramy was exceptionally talented and informative. The tour takes you through the family residence of the building which comprises an additional 2 floors of the building. The residence is populated with furnishings and fixtures from the years when the Kolb family was living and working in the canyon. Their story is one of perseverance, hard work, adventure, and love. I guarantee that you will not regret the time spent!

Interesting stop if you are on the south rim. Great photos and history. Staff extremely friendly! Small selection of souvenirs. Would walk through again if we return.

we were sure to make a purchase from the studio store to show our support. They also offered a t-shirt that was not otherwise available in any of the gift shops. It reads in part ...going down optional...coming up...mandatory.

We stopped by the Kolb Studio about 9am and luckily they were open. The building is perched on the side of the canyon ledge so it is a true curiosity. Once entering they have another gift shop, but what made this building great was the man behind the desk. He directed us to the window so we could see the view and he gave us his own mini-lecture of the building's history. We also went exploring in the back room which was a little museum containing original photos and paintings. This isn't a must see, but it was a nice diversion from all those spectacular views (kidding).

This is another Grand Canyon place that is "temporarily closed" without any obvious explanation. You can walk by and see that the building hugs the rim and appears neat. But anything on the inside has to await the future.

Go through the museum! You will be in awe of what these two brothers did at the Canyon. Just imagine running up and down Bright Angel trail just to develop tourist pictures!

Loved this studio. There really should be a film you can buy about these brothers. I totally enjoyed the museum.

What a treat! My wife bought me the book, The Amazing Kolb Brothers of the Grand Canyon, and beside being an easy and interesting book to read, it prepared me for the visit to the studio and views of the Bright Angel Trail. Once the studio personnel know I had read the book, she gladly pointed out parts of the canyon that I had read about. Seeing the Kolb Brothers' photographs and then the actual sites made this a highlight of the Grand Canyon experience. Surprisingly, many tourists walked past the studio, situated along the path and on the precipice, and missed a wonderful part of the visit to the canyon.
