Word of mouth has that the more remote, harder to get to and therefore less crowded North Rim offers a more authentic Canyon experience and better views. However, there is no bus service on this rim and it is closed during the winter.

Forget the crowds and traffic of the south rim. Take the time to visit the North rim. If you are RVing there is an alpine meadow you can camp in where you will have the entire place to yourselves and it is only 8 miles from the park overlook down a well maintained dirt road.

The vistas are absolutely incredible ! Less crowded than the South Rim but every bit as scenic. The walking paths get you right into the action so watch your step.

The most breathtaking place I have ever seen. Pictures don't do it justice. A must see! Rent a vehicle and climb the mountains. There are several places to stay at the national park. Lots of interesting look offs and you can even take a tour if you wish.

I can explain the moment I saw it. I believe no photos or no videos can replace the experience of facing Grand Canyon in person. Also if you go there, remember to take the helicopter tour. It may be expensive but I would say it worth every dollar I spent on it. It is really a gift from nature!!

I recently visited the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in September 2016 and it was nothing short of amazing. My boyfriend, good friend and I had a stellar day hiking and taking in the spectacular views. The North Rim is only open from mid-May to mid-October and is visited by only 10% of people compared to the South Rim.... More

1st Important Tip - Fill up with gas in Jacob Lake before heading out. The scenery is spectacular! I went the 1st week of November. The visitor center was already closed - hardly anyone there. The North Rim is heavily forested. I walked Bright Angel Point and Cape Royal and drove to Point Imperial. All absolutely gorgeous and no crowds.

Went when the lodge was closed for the season, I took the long path to the lookout and because of the snow and ice, it was very treacherous and strenuous. I suggest that people who want to see it and not walk the 1/2 mile trail, you can go to the lookout behind the lodge which you can get to... More

We had a group of 6 people hiking and had made reservations at Phantom Ranch a couple of months before. We tried to get through on the phone lines to book it when bookings opened a year before but were unable to get through so we had to wait for cancellations to get in. This means calling daily until you... More

The North Rim is only open six months a year so plan accordingly. It is a lot less commercialized than the South Rim and we really enjoyed that. There are a lot of tall trees and greenery so much prettier than the South Rim. The hiking is more challenging since it is about a thousand feet higher than the South... More

The Grand Canyon North Rim is less touristy than the South Rim and it is ore challenging to get there. Still it is absolutely worth going and you get spectacular views of the canyon. You will not be able to easily get to the Colorado River though as this is a 25 miles out and back hike with about 5000ft... More
