Yes, it is 12 miles long. Yes, you do have to endure horse droppings every 50 feet. Yet this is one of the prettiest hikes I have ever been on, both coming and leaving. But the real kicker is the lake; photos cannot adequately capture...More

One of the best hikes I have done. The lake is spectacular! 12 miles out and back with some elevation but it is well worth the effort.

Yes, the first mile can be boring due to the horse traffic but after the ratil is relatively easy and the arrival on the lake just magic... Our usual last hike on Glacier to remember the just ending vacation and to think at the next...More

This is honestly one of the most beautiful spots I have ever pitched a tent. The lake itself is gatorade blue, there is an over-abundance of wildlife, and the mountains are breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset.

I've been all over the US, Europe and the Caribbean, but this is the most jaw-dropping, stunning place my husband and I have ever been to. It is ABSOLUTELY worth braving the hours, horse droppings, miles, and bears. If you're reading this, you probably already...More

Apparently this is an old copper mine area and perhaps the copper oxide is responsible for the color. There was not another color like this the park. It is a 6.2 mile hike each way - not difficult, but a little long for some. It...More

The first mile of the hike is the same trail the horses use so it smells pretty bad and you are having to watch your step for horse poop. But you will have some amazing views of a lake! You'll be in the woods for...More

As many have said, this trail is definitely more about the finish. The lake is breathtaking in color and surroundings! The trail is a little over 6 miles one way (13.5 round trip) and most of that is in the forest. The first mile or...More

Cracker lake itself is stunning- a milky turquoise lake, unlike anything I have ever seen. It is worth the hike in, and you do not need to be a seasoned hiker to do this one. Yes, it is long (longer than the sign at the...More

The first part of the trail is shared with horseback riders and can be a bit odoriferous with horse droppings! It ascends slowly in a valley. Spend time at this lovely cold lake but watch out for wildlife.
