I was a bit worried, being almost 60 and a little out of shape from my desk job, but decided to go for it. It was spectacular! I started with a ranger group hike, but quickly found that I walked faster than the group so...More
This is a terrific hike full of amazing views and wildlife! We hiked on September 20 and the foliage was full of colors. Once you reach Grinnell Glacier, sit back and enjoy your surroundings- the lake is a beautiful blue and there was an iceberg...More
first, if not experienced but in OK shape, this long hike is doable, but suggest trying to go with a ranger. He broke up the hike, and told us what to expect. It was really helpful. The scenery and views were incredible. Best thing we...More

Fabulous hike - stunning views the entire time. I chose the Grinnell Glacier hike as our one big hike during our stay in Many Glacier because of 1) a recommendation from another TripAdvisor member, and 2) because of the optional guided hike with a Ranger....More
This hike is every bit as great and spectacular as other reviewers have suggested, so here I will just add some details on the $27 optional boat ride from Many Glacier Lodge run by the Glacier Park Boat Company. I tried to make reservations for...More
I've been putting off this review for days now. Our day started with the ride from st.Mary's lodge to many glacier lodge. We arrived and made our way down to the boat dock where we met this cute, bubbly, knowledgeable girl named kaytlin. We chatted...More

Google "Ranger led hikes in Glacier". Then scroll down the site to see the calendars. The links I could post are not allowed on this function of TA. There may be ranger led hikes in different areas of Glacier but not to Grinnell Glacier right now.
The last scheduled hike to Grinnell Glacier was on September 16th. All other Many Glacier ranger led hikes ended on September 23rd.
We did get some snow the last couple of days high up in the mountains.
There is one remaining ranger led hike in St Mary Valley and normally many ranger led hikes in the Lake McDonald Valley until September 30. BUT this year due to the fire along the west side of the lake, the schedules are different. They advise checking the bulletin boards at the Ranger Stations and visitor's centers.
Bears are very active right now...if you choose to hike independently you should carry bear spray and know how to use it.

Took me 4.25 hours there and 3 back. If you don’t take the boats over 2 lakes and hike from lodge it is approximately 11miles round trip. I am 65 and made it. Beautiful hike.. I would call it strenuous. Best hike in park.
