The lake is beautiful with crystal clear water and colorful stones on the lake bed. Nice beach area in front of the lodge that the kids enjoyed. The lodge wasn't bad but it just felt worn out. It has a nice view of the lake...More

The blue hue of this lake is like nothing else I have ever seen! It is surrounded by impressive peaks and in my case, the blue sky - unforgettable!

Lake McDonald is quite lovely--crystal clear water, colorful stones on the bottom. You can rent kayaks and boats at both ends--Apgar Village and Lake McDonald Lodge--and also do a cruise from the lodge end. There's a small nature center at the village.

We rented Kayaks to see the lake. Nothing spectacular but nice and easy to boat upon and you can then reach quieter parts for a picnic and (cold!) swim.

A bit cold but definitely swimmable. The kids rented canoes and paddle boards and also spent hours skipping rocks and swimming. Wonderful way to pass the day.

We got to Glacier fairy late in the day, so we stopped at Lake McDonald lodge and relaxed for a while and took the Boat trip. The guide/captain was informative and there is much to appreciate. Gave a lot of historical context.

We stayed in Fish Creek Campground and were within easy walking distance to the lake. The views are incredible and the water is warm enough to take a swim. At the developed part you can but food and souvenirs, rent a boat or swim.

Looking to spend our 25th anniversary in GNP for 10 days in 2018 and planning now. We want to fly in to FCA and stay in Apgar overnight. Day 2 is GTSR Trail of Cedars stay in Lake McDonald Lodge with a free day at lake same in Day 3. Day 4 is GTSR again with Highline Trail/St. Marys & Virginia Falls staying at Many Glacier Hotel. Day 5 is Many Glacier Area boat tour and Grinnell Glacier Trail again staying at MGH. Day 6 is Iceberg Lake Trail again MGH. Day 7 is Waterton Lake National Park staying at Prince of Wales Hotel doing boat tour. Day 8 is Many Glacier area Swifcurrent Pass Trail to Redrock Falls staying at Glacier Park Lodge. Day 9 we will finish up in 2 Medicine with a boat tour, Twin Falls, Trick Falls, and Upper 2 Medicine Lake with travel home on day 10. Since I have never been to the area and only done on-line research can anyone give me feedback on this itinerary that has been. Missing anything? Also does it seem to flow well from area to area? Thanks for all help!!! Excited to go.
