We visited Bowman Lake while checking out the Polebridge Mercantile (amazing baked goods). The road there is narrow and rough, but the views are worth it! Wish we would have brought kayaks and remembered our bug spray. It was much quieter than the rest of...More

Stunning views across the lake of snow-capped mountain peaks and forested hillsides. Lots of options for hiking and a very nice campsite.

After our stop in Polebridge at the mercantile (worth it for the pastries) we pushed up the road to Bowman lake. Absolutely stunning and worth the drive in every way.

We had several days in GNP so took a day to explore Kintla and Bowman Lakes. Most of our time at Bowman. The road is rough but don't let that stop you. Take it slow and watch the blind corners. We did it in a...More

Nice location for lunch or a hike. Small parking area and usual NP toilets. Nowhere to buy food or drink so bring your own provisions. Can't comment on views as here during severe wildfires so too smoky.

Reviewer "LA" says "Long Bumpy Ride But Worth it" and he is 100% correct. Several times during our jolting, dusty ride up to Bowman Lake I said to myself "This better be worth it". Luckily, it is. But, the drive is definitely not a casual...More

Bowman was one of the highlights of our Glacier visit. The ride there makes for a great commercial for shock absorbers and four wheel drive vehicles, but the views and the lakeside trails make it worthwhile. Lots of potholes and twists and turns on the...More

When Glacier National Park feels crowed or busy, I recommend visiting Bowman Lake. There is a long dirt road to get there that is absolutely worth it for the quiet-seeker. There it was so quiet with the stillest water in the park. A few hikers...More

I think you can with a permit. When we were there, several overnight campers were there and parked. They had windshield permits though. We were just there for the day.
