Bowman Lake is an iconic place and worth the long bumpy drive on a dirt road. To get worthy photos (see attached): 1. Check the weather! The best time to shoot is about 1 hour before sunset. Your looking for calm to no wind (for a mirrored lake). Having some puffy clouds in the sky to eventually turn red as... More

There’s lots of useful information about the North Fork area on the NPS website that really applies to visiting this part of Glacier Park. Bowman Lake was my only destination for this day, with a stop at Polebridge. It was a rocky ride on the road sections beyond Polebridge. The other reviewers have described the road to Bowman Lake. My... More

The road to this lake is crazy to drive. Make sure your car is in good shape. This lake is a very nice lake. I wish we could have spent more time at it.

If you can handle driving on dirt roads, narrow switchbacks, and have a tent or very small camper then try for this campground. Limited sites so get there early on the weekend or in the July/August. Several trails lead into the mountains, one leads along the lake shore. Pristine lake great for canoe or kayak. Bring a camera!

I have spent lots of time in Glacier National Park. This was my first trip to the NW corner of the park. It is now my favorite part of the park. The only issue is people drive to fast on the 1-1/2 car width road. The view is worth it. The hike around the lake is amazing.

The campground is next to clear, frigid lakes, around which it's fun to hike. I swam in one of the lakes; it was incredibly cold, but I could see the my feet in depths past my shoulders. However, there are no glaciers or ice bergs in east driving distance. We wasted most of our two days getting in and out... More

The western side of Glacier National Park is the least visited area of the park. The road into Bowman Lake is a gravel 6 mile road that will stop many visitors from seeing the lake. At the end of the road is a campground, picnic area and starting point for hikers going into the back country. On one side of... More

A beautiful lake at the end of a gravel road and definitely worth the drive to visit and relax. The 11 mile (round trip) hike to the lookout was somewhat of a challenge for the non-teenagers, but awesome views at the top! Would definitely recommend the hike... bring plenty of water!

Glacier was very busy when we visited, so we followed some good advice and made the drive up to Bowman Lake. The road to the lake was like any one-lane gravel road, with a few more bumps, but was definitely, easily do-able in any vehicle. The lake itself is incredibly serene with the same massive views of the mountains minus... More

We stopped at Polebridge Mercantile and the asked what might be a cool but remote spot to check out. Bowman Lake did not disappoint! The six mile dirt road to the Lake was adventurous and it was so peaceful and remote it didn't feel real. Go!
